Wheely Wednesday! And Patches is a shopper!

Hi everydog, kitty, hamsterrier, bear and hooman! It's me, Petey! Since PorkChop has done the last several Wheelie Wednesday posts, I protested when Mom opened the china cabinet and I convinced her to let ME do this post! Boy, that PorkChop gets all the attention! He's such an Aire-hog!

This is Poppy right after she was told that she needs a bath and a toenail trim. She didn't say anything, but I think I heard some growling under her breath. She is not a happy pup! I'm sure glad I don't have to have such indignities inflicted upon ME! Since I am all wool, I can't have a bath and my toenails are actually little copper wires so we certainly don't want to trim them!

Patches has been in trouble several times, already, this week. It seems that she has turned into a "shopper"! She has been stealing all kinds of stuff that doesn't belong to her. When Dad took a shower, he left his dirty clothes on the floor and Patches thought they needed to be roached upon. Then she drags his socks up onto the bed and won't let anyone take them away from her. Every time Mom does laundry, she has to watch the laundry basket constantly. Patches can sneak into the basket and grab a sock or two before Mom even knows it happened. She finds out when she pairs up the socks and some don't have mates. By the time she finds the wayward socks, they are all slobbery and need to be washed again. Patches' latest favorite thing to shop is dryer sheets. When the laundry is all done, our mom uses the dryer sheet to clean out the lint filter in the dryer, but most of the time, she can't find the sheet. She usually finds it on the big bed...shredded and slobbery. If she happens to catch Patches in the act, the chase is on! Patches prances around like she just won the lottery! Jeeze...all she has is a crumby dryer sheet or a sock and she acts like she has a real prize!

This pink teddy bear is one of the new stuffies that Mom brought home last week. He's sleeping on the bedroom floor along with the crab that Pedro sent to us. The crab doesn't squeak anymore, but it is still Poppy's favorite toy. The bear is kind of heavy, so Mom is worried that once the girls rip him open (and they WILL), that there is going to be a major mess. We don't know if it will be beans or sand, but we're pretty sure it won't be pretty!

Patches still has a few hot spots that Mom is dogtoring, but most of them are all gone. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that! It's nice and cool in my china cabinet and I never get the itchies!
Well, everybuddy, I'm going back into the china cabinet now before those real doggies find out I'm out. That would not be a pretty sight!
Aire-hugs,
Petey (and Poppy, Penny & Patches too)

Patches' before & after pictures.

Hi everybuddy! It's me, Princess Patches. Some of you have been asking for before and after pictures of me, so here they are. Up until now, we have never posted any pictures of my hind quarters because they were just too disturbing. I only weighed 32 lbs. when I came to live here and entered the witness protection program. You could see every bone in my body and I was starving!
Now, I weigh about 45 lbs. and I am turning into a gorgeous 'dale. I've been eating lots and lots of good food and treats and I also get Salmon oil with every meal. I also get yogurt on my breakfast and some bone, skin and coat supplements. I am soooooo glad I ended up here at Airedale Heaven! Not only do I get really good food (and LOTS of it), but I have 2 really great playmates! I am healthy enough now to get spayed. That will happen on September 29th. Mom says it's a good thing, but I'm not so sure. I guess if I survived almost starving to death, I can survive getting spayed too.

Mom and Aunt Wendy went to a dog show, on Saturday, without us! They saw lots and lots of other doggies and we sniffed Mom for about a half hour when she came home. She bought this little Airedale purse at the dog show. She had one like it before, but she washed it and the colors ran. She was very excited to see the same vendor at this show. She uses it to keep her money in when she goes yard sale-ing. It has even caused her to meet a few Airedales that she didn't know were in people's houses. By the way, they saw 11 Airedales at the show! Woohoo!

She also bought this crystal with an Airedale inside of it. It was really hard to get this picture because it's so shiny that the flash kept making it so you couldn't see the Airedale. This guy is going to live in the china cabinet with PorkChop and some of the other wheelies.

We also want to show you some of the different wheelie frames that our dad has made for our mom's wheelies. Now, people who order wheelies can have a choice of what kind of frames they get.
We have to apologize to Maggie and Mitch! Before our mom went on vacation, they gave us this pawsome award and Mom intended to post it right after she got home. However, being that she FORGOT for like two weeks, we are posting it now. Sorry, Maggie & Mitch! We are supposed to tag 5 other doggies, but since it was so long ago, we figure everydog has probably already been tagged. If you haven't been, you can consider yourself awarded by us. We wanted to use the card to buy food and treats for all homeless doggies, but Mom said it's not that kind of card. Darn! We're sending a big THANK YOU to Maggie & Mitch, anyway!
It has been raining, here, since last night and it is supposed to rain for the next four days. We hate to go out in the rain, but it sure makes our pawrents happy. Well...all except for all the red mud that we will track in! Now that Tropical Storm Fay has gone past us, we thought all we were going to get was lots of wind, but we got fooled! In the past 3 days, our mom has seen two of our neighbor's trees fall down. She heard a loud cracking sound and then boom! There went the trees! We're sure glad none of us were near them!
We have an update on the wheelies that were aire-lifted from the murderous jaws of Apache. Paco is on his way to a full recovery and Pierre was taken off life support, last night. Now, he's in critical condition, but his prognosis is very good. He's expected to make a full recovery in the next few days. They both have to undergo several transplants, but we expect them to be good as new, soon!
Well, everybuddy, I'm off for my morning nap!
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Poppy & Penny too)

100th Post... and new style wheelie!

Hi everydog, kitty, hammie, bear and hooman! It's me, Patches! Today is our 100th post so I wanted to show you the new kind of wheelie our mom has made. It's a wheelie cycle. It has three wheels and two handles in the back.
It's kind of a variation on one that she made for Jackson. His has 4 wheels, but this one has only 3...kind of like a tricycle with no pedals! When Mom asked Dad to design a different kind of wheels for Jackson, he did that and then he started designing all different kinds. This is the first one he made after Jackson's. We think it's pretty cool, but we would really like to sink our teeth into that needle felted Airedale. She looks very tasty. Maybe we should consult with Apache before we take a bite of her. Apache would know whether they are tasty or not!

This new wheelie cycle will go up for sale on Ebay, later today. Don't forget...if anydog wants a wheelie or non-wheelie, you can pee-mail our mom at: airedaleheaven@comcast.net . She has made lots of different kinds of doggies and kitties and she's always willing to try breeds that she hasn't done before.

It looks like she is going to be opening a new hospital for injured wheelies too. Pierre and Paco will be her first patients. They were Aire-lifted, yesterday, from New Mexico, so they should be here soon. Dr. Mom is on stand-by awaiting their arrival. We think they will be in intensive care for a while since Apache did such a good job of destructomania on them. She was trying to stop the wheelie revolt and we think she must have succeeded.

I am still ruling from my high perch on the big bed! Mom brought us each a new stuffie, today and I am guarding mine so nodog else gets it. You can't see it, but it's underneath me! Heehee! This stuffie is my favorite because he plays music when I bite him. He's a Florida Gator and I guess he plays their fight-song. I don't know, for sure, but he's really cool!

This picture is kind of dark, but it's Poppy right after she stole my gator! That is soooo not fair! We got 3 new stuffies, but we all want the one that plays music!

This is me, telling Mom on Poppy! Yes, I have to admit...I am a tattle-tale (or is it tail?). I wanted Mom to take my stuffie away from Poppy, but she told me to get it myself. No problemo! She better watch out because my teeth are just as big as hers and I will grab Mr. Gator, the next time she isn't looking.

Poppy dropped him, but I was looking at Mom instead! Don't worry, I had him in my jaws of death not long after this picture was taken!
Mom is dogtoring me for my hot spots and they are looking a little better. I'm still pretty itchy, but less than I was before. I don't make it easy for our mom to dogtor me...I run away from her when I see the spray bottle. Okay, I don't really need to SEE the bottle. I can tell Mom is coming after me when I see one hand behind her back. Who does she think she's trying to fool?
Well, everybuddy, it's about time for our lunchtime O.S. That means "outside". We use a lot of initials, in this house, and I'm still trying to figure out what most of them mean. BB's means Big Baths, BH's means Big Haircuts and BBP's means Big Butt Pushin's (aka expressing of anal glands) and we rally HATE that one! Fortunately, the BBP's only happen when we get groomed so we don't have to worry about it at home!
See you all next time!
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Penny & Poppy, the stuffie thief too)

Wheely Wednesday!...and Patches' second Aire-cut

Hi, all you furries! It's me, PorkChop! Once again, I have been let out of my home in the china cabinet to tell you all what is going on around here.
As was mentioned in our last post, Patches got her second Aire-cut yesterday. Now we know what she really looks like! She has put on enough weight that you can't see any of her bones anymore. Woohoo! She still needs to gain a little more, but she's looking much better these days.
When she first came here, Mom didn't want to take her anywhere because she was afraid everyone would think that she and Dad were starving her. Now, she can go places because she looks much healthier. Well, all except that now she has some hot spots on her back. Before her Aire-cut, Mom kept looking at her skin because she was constantly scratching. She couldn't see anything, but now that all that hair is gone, the hot spots have shown up. Mom is using what's left of Penny's medicine on Patches and she's scratching a lot less. Penny's hot spot is just about gone.

When Mom got to the grooming place, yesterday, the groomer told her that she was only able to cut the hair on the top of Patches' tail. Mom was a little upset because it looked worse than the squirrel tail! The groomer put Patches back on the table and distracted her by scratching her back and Patches let her scissor cut the rest of her tail. It still isn't perfect, but it's lots better than it was.

She also wasn't able to cut her toenails. Patches yelped every time she touched one of her feet, so she only got one toenail cut. The v-e-t will have to cut the rest of them when she gets spayed. That way, they can do it while she's asleep.

This is a pretty good picture of her new tail...at least you can see that it is a lot skinnier. It is still a lethal weapon, though! She wags almost constantly and has given our mom several bruises on her legs.
Here's a couple more pictures of covered bridges that Mom saw. We don't know why they didn't choose that county, in Ohio, for The Bridges of Madison County. They have so many that it would have been a really good place to do the movie. The whole area is gorgeous in the fall!

To get a side view of this bridge, Mom and her sister had to walk through the weeds to get down by the river. She was walking very carefully over rocks and stuff and she told her sister to get out of the way if they saw a snake. She would have mowed her sister down like bad corn!

Here are a couple pictures of Poppy just in case you forgot what she looks like. Since Patches was not exactly cooperating for this morning's photo shoot, Poppy decided to ham it up a little. She's the only one in the house, right now, without any hot spots.

We have all heard a nasty rumor that Mom is going to a dog show this weekend...and she won't be taking any of us! That is sooooo not fair! We really like seeing other doggies! She says they are only going to see the Airedales and maybe a few other terriers. Why does she need to see OTHER Airedales? We think she should just stay home and see her OWN 'dales!
Well, everybuddy, I'm going back in my china cabinet, now, where it's nice and cool. It is still very hot here and we still haven't had any rain. Our pawrents keep watching the news and hoping Tropical Storm Fay will dump some rain on us.
Aire-hugs,
PorkChop (and Poppy, Penny & Patches too)

Woohoo for Jackson...oh, yeah...and our mom's home!

Hi everybuddy! It's me, Poppy! We want to wish a very happy barkday to Jackson and we're sending lots of healing Aire-zen so he can be back to normal and healthy and happy in no time! While our mom was away, she only had access to the internet a couple of times and she didn't even check our blog! Both times, she only went to Jackson's bloggy to see how he was doing. She sure was happy to see that his surgery went well and he's back home where he belongs with his J's! Woohoo!
This is our mom standing in front of a tree in Ohio. The sun was shining in her eyes so her face is all scrunched up. She and one of her sisters spent a whole day touring some of the covered bridges in the county where they grew up. There are 16 of them, but they only made it to 7. They are kind of spread out, so they didn't have time to see all 16.
Our mom's father had a good laugh when one of his neighbors asked if he had a girlfriend. He told them it was his oldest daughter that they saw in his front yard...not a girlfriend. We TOLD Mom that she was getting her hair a little too white! It might be time to grow it out and start over with a new color. People used to tell her that she looked younger with blond hair than she did with black hair, but maybe just not quite THAT blond! She says that really old ladies are starting to tell her that she has pretty hair. Maybe the platinum hair is making her look too old!

Anyway, she had a really good time with her family. They went to see the Longaberger basket factory and spent a whole day at Shaker Woods where they have a ginoumous craft fair in the woods. She couldn't buy a whole lot because she had to make sure her suitcase wasn't over weight. When she got to the Atlanta airport, the people in front of her checked a suitcase that was 7 pounds overweight and it cost them $90. Mom's wasn't over weight so she wanted to make sure it didn't weigh too much more when she came back home. She came across an Amish family that was selling maple syrup and she bought a half gallon. She mailed it home because by the time she put a few other things in the box, it weighed over 10 pounds.

This is going to be the newest and longest covered bridge in Ohio once it's finished. You have to park about a half mile away and walk to the bridge in order to see it. They thought maybe you could walk across it, but the people working there said they couldn't.
We're very glad our mom is finally home! We were all good for Dad, though! We all ate our meals when we were supposed to and the worst thing we did was ask to go outside in the middle of the night. He doesn't know WHY we had to go out and we're not telling! Penny developed a large hot spot on the left side of her face while Mom was gone, so Dad took her to see the v-e-t. He said she was such a good girl that she got the "Dog of the Day" award! They shaved the hair on the side of her face and she gets a pill everyday and some kind of spray on the hot spot three times a day. It's already starting to look lots better.

Patches is getting her second Aire-cut on Monday or Tuesday. Mom has to make an appointment for her, later today. We can't wait to see what she looks like without that awful squirrel tail!

This is the first time in my almost 8 years that I haven't turned into a weirdo doggo when my mom went away. Usually, I lay on the rug in the hallway that goes to the garage because that's the door that Mom leaves through. I also refuse to eat for several days after she leaves, but this time, I ate every time Dad gave me food. Mom thinks that maybe I didn't miss her! Actually, I was just hoping she would bring treats for us, but she didn't. She says she couldn't see paying $15 for 6 ounces of doggie biscuits when she can buy them at home for lots less. We're just glad she's home!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy (and Penny & Patches too)

Wheely Wednesday!

Greetings to all you wheelies and non-wheelies out there in bloggy-land! It's me, PorkChop! I came out of my nice, cool china cabinet today, just to do this post!
We hear that there are some wheelies out there, that are starting a revolt and plan to take over the world. It even got two of Apache's wheelies to suffer dire consequences. Apache tried to murder Paco and Pierre. Fortunately, she was not able to kill them, but they ARE severely injured. They are being aire-lifted to our wheelie hospital right now. The surgeon is on stand-by, waiting for their arrival. Now...about that revolt!...although our mom would like EVERYONE to have a wheelie, we don't really think a revolt or world take-over is such a good idea. Yeah, we're cute and everything, but we aren't nearly as much fun as all you real doggies!

Our camera is "indisposed" at the moment, so we have posted some older pictures of us. Poppy is very upset because our mom keeps going to v-e-t's offices to put in applications. She even went to PetCo and PetSmart without any of us! So far, she hasn't found a new job and that makes US very happy.

Have any of you doggies ever had the hiccups? Patches had them, the other day, and Mom didn't know what to do. She tried to get her to drink a glass of water upside down, but that just put the water all over the floor. She tried scaring her, but that didn't work either. While she was trying to figure out what to do next, the hiccups went away by themselves. We never heard of a doggie having hiccups!

Our bloggy will be silent for awhile, but we'll be back soon. In the mean time, we are praying for the best possible CAT scan results for Jackson, really quick healing for Jack Jack, lots less pain for Noah, the safe return of Deetz's sister Charlotte, no more seizures for Snickers and for all of our doggie, kitty and hammie friends to be well and have lots of fun!
See you all next time!
Aire-hugs,
PorkChop (and Poppy, Penny & Patches too)

Hot, Hot, Hot, Hazy and Humid!

Hi everydog, kitty, hammie, bear and hooman! It's me, Poppy! It has been sooooo hot outside, lately, that all we want to do is lay on the floor in the air conditioning. On top of being hot, it's also hazy and humid. That means that the air quality isn't fit for anydog to be out in and the humidity makes it feel even hotter than it actually is! This is a picture of me just chillin' in the living room. We don't know what's up with the back of that couch...it looks dirty in every picture, but in real life, it doesn't look dirty at all. Maybe it's because our mom has to clean it a lot because I like to rub against it every time I come in from outside and Patches thinks she has to wipe her face on it all the time.
This is where Patches likes to lay when Mom in on the 'puter. That way she can see Mom in the office and still keep an eye on dad too! Sorry the picture is so dark...she's in the hallway where there isn't a whole lot of light.

Our pawrents went yard sale-ing, this morning, and they didn't bring us back a single toy! We know that we don't exactly NEED anymore toys, but we have come to expect new ones every week! We are really disappointed when they show up without any. They have to go to PetCo on Tuesday, so maybe they will bring us some toys then...or maybe some TREATS!!! That would be even better!

We have a change of plans for when Mom goes away without us. Patches will be staying home with me and Penny instead of staying with Ezzy and Jagger. It seems that one girl doggie just won't fit in with the two boy doggies. Patches gets too nervous when she's away from home and she can't help but piddle all over the place. She takes about a week to get over it, so Aunt Wendy's house would be a mess by the time Mom got home. We will just all stay here with Dad and we'll probably all be happier because our daily routine won't be disrupted. Well...except for the fact that Mom won't be here!

Our pawrents' bank finally got their checking account fixed and all the missing money put back. That sure is a relief...we didn't like the idea of going without treats for very long. The only problem with the whole thing is that now, they have the money to get us groomed. Penny went last week and it will be Patches' turn on Tuesday. Whew...I'm glad I already got my Aire-cut a couple of weeks ago! I did hear a rumor, though, that I will be next for a bath. That really stinks! Or maybe it's ME that stinks! No, that can't be right! I thought Mom was out of doggie shampoo! Oops...she says she bought MORE!
Well, everybuddy, we're going back to lounging on top of air vents now. We stay nice and cool that way, but it keeps all the cold aire from getting to Mom and Dad. We don't see what the problem is! We hope all of you are staying cool!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy, Penny & Patches
