Why we've been MIA...

Hi everybuddy! It's me, Poppy! I thought I'd get a jump start on Halloween with my scary eyes!
Patches keeps getting in trouble for interrupting our mom while she's working on an emergency project. Yesterday, Patches grabbed one of Mom's felties and was running around the living room acting like she just won the lottery. Now, our mom knows better than to chase her when she has something that doesn't belong to her. Nope, that never works. The faster Mom chases her, the faster Patches munches on whatever she has! By the time she dropped the feltie, it had lots of extra Aire-hair and loads of doggie slobber on it. Mom cleaned it up and sent it to our feltie hospital. The mini Aire-head will be good as new soon.
In the mean time, I've been hanging out in the computer room a lot. I can lay on the aire-vent AND stay out of my mom's way! Last Thursday (one whole week ago today), the ice maker line on the back of our refrigerator sprung a leak and made an hooooooge mess. I guess the leak must have started a long time ago, but last Thursday was when our mom noticed that the wood floor was all humped up behind the 'fridge. Boy, the HBO words were flying THAT day! We might have even learned a few NEW ones!

Penny is making an escape from the kitchen because Mom put this oxygen bottle, box and tools over one of the wood squares that was loose. It has been loose for a long time, but Mom decided to fix it while she had out all the wood glue and stuffs. This spot is very close to our dog feeding room so it is covered up because Mom doesn't want any toenail prints in the grout. Now, would WE do that? You betcha!

This is where our refrigerator usually sits. The flood that came from the ice maker line, ruined an area about 48 inches wide by 36 inches deep. Our mom decided to replace most of that area with tile instead of putting the wood back. She said something like, "By God, this is NEVER going to happen again". Ok, those weren't her exact words, but since this is a family bloggy, we won't repeat the HBO words that she was saying. It is finally all done except where you see the grout lines between the wood. She had to replace all that wood and the grout isn't dry yet so it isn't the right color. Once it is dry, Mom has to trim it to match the rest of the floor. I'm pretty sure there will be more bad words flying!
Mom and Dad have both been in the basement for several hours each day. They were trying to find the right sizes of wood pieces to fit in where some were ruined. Not an easy thing to do since they can't just cut new ones. If they make new ones, they would have to buy 2 gallons of finish and they say that isn't going to happen. It's a 2 part epoxy and it takes a gallon of each part. They only need about a quart of finish and can't see paying a couple hundred dollars to fix such a small amount of wood. Anyway, after a whole week, the "project" is almost finished and soon, we will be getting back to Aire-cuts for all 3 of us.
So, there you have it! Now you know why we have been missing for so long!

We're still here!

Hi everybuddy! It's me, Patches! I just wanted to let everyone know that we are still around. Poppy was really sick, one night this week, and our mom was REALLY freaked out. She (Poppy...not Mom) kept acting like she was going to throw up, but she never did. She would NOT lie down! She just kept standing around with her head hung down. She looked sooooo pitiful! Finally, by the time we all went to bed, Poppy decided to lie down. By the next morning, she was fine so we don't know what the problem was, but we sure are glad it's gone!
She's fine now and back to playing our usual bitey face and bitey leggies!

Last week, our mom went to that new doggie place to see if she could get a job there. The owner took Mom on a tour of the place and gave her an application to fill out. There were about 20 doggies there when Mom went and not one bit of doggie smell. She said that if she hadn't seen the doggies, she would never have guessed there were any doggies there. The place was VERY clean and all the doggies were having a blast running around and getting in the doggie pools. As far as working there, Mom just isn't sure it will work for her. Right now, they only have two shifts...one starts at 6 a.m. and the other is from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Even though she gets up really early, she doesn't think she could get there by 6 a.m. You see, our dad is not well and he needs the most care in the early morning and the evening. Our mom is going to take her application back up there in case they ever decide to put on a mid-day shift. The owner says that is a possibility. In the mean time, we get to keep her at home with us!
Well, everydoggie, that's all for today!

We got our toenails clipped and new bones!

Hi to all our bloggy buddies! It's me, Poppy! Last Thursday, our mom and Aunt Wendy decided to torture all three of us! They took me and Penny to a new grooming place to get our toenails trimmed. Yes, they were going to do it themselves, but finally realized what a chore it would be. The grooming place only charges $5 per dog, so duh! It was waaaaaaaaaay worth it to take us there! They took me and Penny first and then came back home to get the wild child (aka Patches). They were going to take all 3 of us at one time, but ONE of us (again, Patches) was so wild that they decided to take her separately. The lady at the grooming place did our nails so fast, that Mom says it took longer to get us loaded into the Airemobile than it did to get our nails cut. Sorry there's no pictures of our torture session, but Mom can't control doggies and use the camera at the same time.
Oh, yeah, and don't tell anyone, but Patches peed on herself. Not once, but twice! She got so nervous being in a new place that she just couldn't help herself! It's a good thing the ladies, there, are used to that sort of thing! She had to get rinsed off before she could even get back into the Airemobile! What a doofus! Maybe the reason they were able to get us done so fast was because they muzzled us. Mom told them they'd HAVE to muzzle the wild child, but they decided to muzzle all 3 of us. We didn't mind one bit!

After all the torture we endured, Mom bought us each a bone! They are sooooo yummy! Patches and I chewed ours so much that we made our gums bleed. That was when our mom decided that we had enough for one day. We were only able to chew one end off each of our bones, so Mom knows they are good for keeping us busy for a looooong time. These bones are made especially for aggressive chewers. Woohoo!

Patches took hers directly to the big bed to do her chewing. Since one of the ingredients in the bones is corn starch, our mom decided the bed was not the best place for chewing. She made Patches leave the room and then she shut the door! Patches was a little upset with this turn of events, but she got over it quickly when Mom gave the bone back to her! Now, the bones have been washed and they're waiting for us up on the counter in the kitchen, right next to our treat jar. Hmmmmm. Maybe we need to do a little counter surfing when Mom leaves to go job hunting. Tomorrow, she's going to a new camp for doggies to see if she can get a job there. We hope she does, then maybe we can go to camp too! We hear that they have a pool and they give doggie massages and everything!
Well, everydoggie, that's about all our news for today.

Still too sad to blog!

Hi everybuddy, it's me, Patches! Yeah, we know it's been a week since we've blogged! We are still too sad about our buddy, Charlie, going to the Rainbow Bridge! He has always been the #1 doggie on Dogs with Blogs, which is only fair since he and his sister Opy and their pawrents started the whole thing! We are really going to miss the big Labradoro Bionico! For any of you who didn't know Charlie, he was a big Labradude with a pacemaker. Hence the name Labradoro Bionico or bionic Labrador! We are keeping all our paws crossed for Brooke, Greg and Opy (the Gruff Puppy)! We know it takes a looooong time for the hurt to ease up, but we also know that they gave Charlie the best life a pup could ever have. Run free, sweet Charlie, until we meet again when we all get to the bridge.
Just wanted to let you all know that my mom finally finished my Aire-cut. Well, as much as she's going to do. She didn't cut me real, real short because she likes to see me kind of curly. Okay, that's what SHE said! I think it's because she doesn't have nearly as much energy as I have, so she quit. She says I look like a teddy bear! I don't know about THAT, but she keeps saying that I'm too cute for my own good. Whatever THAT means!
Poppy and Penny will be getting their turn on the grooming table sometime later in the week. Mom has to have some help from Aunt Wendy to get them up on the table. Unlike me, they don't want to go up the steps. Maybe it's because the steps look like they lead to NO WHERE! Anyway, Mom says the table is at the pawfect height for her. She's kind of short, so it works out well! She also said the clippers are really great. They didn't even get too hot even though all my wiggling made it take longer than it should have!
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Poppy & Penny too)
