Penny's Airecut...Mud, Mud and MORE Mud!

Hello to all of our furry and not-so-furry friends! As most of you know, it is very difficult to get a good picture of Penny because of her fear of the camera! Well, yesterday, Mom managed to get a picture of her out in the yard and as soon as she heard the camera, she high-tailed it for the steps to come inside. Mom got a good one of her on her way up the steps! The one outside is a little far away, but maybe you can see her new Airecut in the one at the top of the steps. Aunt Wendy gave me (Poppy) an Airecut about 3 weeks ago, but it is starting to grow out now. We are both nice and cool, now and Mom thinks we even run faster!
Mom got a couple pictures of me, Poppy out on our deck. See all that mud on the floor? We have an old towel at the top of the steps to catch most of the mud, but we still manage to deposit a lot of it onto the floor. Mom washes it off and it comes right back again...like magic! The next time Mom stains the deck floor, she is going to use a red Georgia clay color! Maybe that will make it less noticeable. See those tiny white spots on the floor mat? Looks like snow, doesn't it? Well, it isn't. It's Bradford Pear blossoms! Our neighbor has 3 of them right on our property line and when the wind blows, a lot of blossoms end up on our deck. They're bootiful trees, but they sure do make a mess. In the spring, we have blossoms all over the place and in the fall, they lose like a gazillion leaves that only seem to fall in OUR yard and not his! We don't like it because Mom has to go outside and rake HIS leaves instead of spending time with us! So not fair!
Some of you have asked about the tiny lights behind my head in the picture on our last post. Well, those are our "runway" lights. They are actually a string of white Christmas rope lights that Mom and Dad have installed so they can see us when we are napping in the walkway that goes through the living room to all the bedrooms and the office. It's our favorite place to nap and our parents got tired of tripping over us when they walk through the house early in the morning before it gets light outside. The lights are on a timer, so they come on about 4:30 in the morning and they go off about 7:30 a.m. when it gets light outside. Mom and Dad had tried many kinds of lights before they finally installed the rope light. None of them seemed to work quite as well as these! Penny likes to lay cross-ways, blocking the entire walkway, so the lights have saved Mom and Dad many times!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy & Penny

You humans are so clever to install those lights. You must be guarding them and sleeping sideways so you know where they are at all times.

I think your Mom would hate my house. I track in TONS of dirt and grass all the time. Just can't help myself.

Penny! Poppy!
You both look great with Airecuts! I personally like the grown out look a bit more than nice and trimmed...it looks so close to being naked, plus longer hair helps keep more mud in the fur!

Mud is the best! Good for you both to keep your human on her toes by tracking the mud in. Humans act like they hate it, but in reality they like to clean up after us! Right?

Slurp!

You girls look stylin'!!! We're all lookin' kinda shaggy, but it seems like we just got our hairs cut. Must be all that 'spensive food we snarf down!

Ooooo...mumsie was on the phone tonight and she let us in and DIDN'T CHECK OUR FEET.

mmmhmmm...we had mud all over us...but Stanley was the one who really trashed the carpet.

Do you think she coulda waited till mornin' when it dried and she could vacuum it up? NOOOOOOOO...she has to spray it and smear in in...yep...not the sharpest tool in our shed...

Good idea of ur rents for the lights...we get fallen over all the time and that's NOT in the dark!!!

Mom says Sasha will be getting a haircut soon, too. Mom keeps calling her a buffalo puppy.
That Christmas light idea is very good!! Mom had a dog that slept in the hall a lot because it was cooler there and Mom always tripped over her ebcause she didn't see her. Mom said one night she almost broke her own kneck and back because she tripped over the dog and she didn't want to land on the dog because she was so old and fragile so she did some funky dance moves and bounced off a few walls before falling down onthe other end of the hallway. Mom was sore for a couple weeks after that, but the dog was okay so she said it was worth it.

That's a smart idea with the lights, Mom says she needs them through our whole house.

Our backyard is all dirt...your Mom would hate it here!

Hi Poppy, Hi Penny,

Way to get caught by the camera, Penny. He he! You are both looking good with the new aire cuts. It looks so nice by you. I can't wait till it's nice here. I'm quite tired of winter and your yard looks sooooo nice. Mom loves your runway lights. She may incorporate something like that here, as if I'm not in my bed, I get stepped on.

Your pal,
Kirby
