Mom told the vet about my having so much trouble getting up after I have been laying down for a while. She gave me some samples of this Previcox to see if it helps me move without so much pain. She couldn't figure out why I have arf-ritis when my chart said I am only 3 years old. Mom set her straight and told her that I will be 8 on October 10. They had my records all wrong!
Now, for the reason of my visit to the vet. Yesterday morning, Patches was trying to play bitey-face with me, but I wasn't feeling so good, so I took it as an attack. I fought with her and then Penny joined in too. We had a 3-way dog fight going on until Dad stopped us with this Attitude Adjustment Stick! I've never heard our mom yell so loud! Normally, Penny and I know what that stick means just by Mom or Dad showing it to us, but this time, we ignored it, so we each got a little whack with it. After the fight, I wouldn't put all my weight on my right front paw and there was a little spot of blood on it. After a few hours of my limping around and licking my paw, Dad called Mom at work and told her that she would have to take me to the vet. He thought my leggie was broken, but by the time Mom got home, I was walking on it. She decided to take me anyway since I haven't been feeling so hot lately.
My leggie isn't broken, but I do have a deep wound on the back of that same leggie. The vet said it's shaped just like a tooth. Hmmmm...I wonder why! It's deep into the muscle so I am on antibiotics for 10 days. That was one 'spensive dog fight! Dr. Hardee told Mom that it isn't unusual for doggies to fight when a new one comes into the household. He says we have to establish our "pecking order". Penny already knows that I am the alpha, but Patches has to learn that too! I am already feeling a little better, this morning, but Mom and Dad are making sure Patches stays away from me until I feel completely better.
Mom can't figure out why it took us until 3 weeks after Patches' arrival to start fighting, but she thinks it's because Patches is getting stronger and spunkier now. I think I might have convinced her that I'm the boss around here, but then, why was I the only one who got hurt? Well, anyway, my bandage makes me look like a tough doggie so maybe nodog will mess with me anymore!
All the medicine I have to take is making me very thirsty. You can see my butt sticking out from my feeding station in the dog feeding room as I fill my tank up with water.
We had some nasty storms, last week. Mom has been reading about storm shirts on some of the husky's blogs so she decided to try it out on Penny the Thunder Chicken. It works!!!! Mom put one of Dad's old t-shirts on her and she didn't try to go to the basement or hide behind any furniture. She just laid on the floor and acted like it wasn't even thundering! It was a miracle! We can't figure out why or how it works, but it does! Sorry there is no picture of her wearing the shirt, but as you all know, she's also a camera chicken!
Well, I'm off to get my antibiotics as soon as Mom hides the pill in some meat. Mmmmm...meat! It's a good thing I'm back to eating again! See you all next time!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy (& Patches and Penny the thunder chicken)

Poppy,
I'm glad you're feeling better. I hope that new medicine helps with your arf-ritis. Ziggy got bit or scratched by something and my mom had to shave his back and keep the cuts clean. I helped by licking it. He's all better now. I'm sure your leg will heal really fast with antibiotics.
Pedro
G'day you lot,
Please try and keep it a little bit civil huh! Poppy, I think purple is your colour and it matches the floor mats too! :-)
Cheers
Charlie
Hi Poppy, you look very pretty in your royal purple bandage. We beagles have battles, too, although I'm happy to say I'm the beta. My brother Bitey can have that stressful alpha spot. Interesting about the storm shirt--my mom should try that on our dalmatian, Summer--she's a big spotted thunder chicken! Hope you feel better soon!
love & wags,
River

We know all about things getting out of hand and resulting is a fight. Tess and Lucy are always getting into a bit of rough and tumble.

Oh my goodness...I sure hope my mum doesn't see that attitude adjustment sticky....I will tell her you have nothing new and haven't posted in days.....
I sure hope your leggie is better...that would have been so cool to see a three way dog fight
Deetz
I'm sorry to hear about the dog fight Poppy! And really sorry about the V-E-T, hopefully that new medicine will help and you'll be up and around in no time.
George
woah, fighting! That sounds pretty exciting, but probably not a good thing to keep doing! I am glad nobody got really hurt!
Oh my, everybody must have been very upset to see a three way aire-fight. Momma agrees that when new doggies arrive they are on their best behavior for a while, but then they need to find their place in the pack. Hope you guys can work things out.
Slobbers,
Mango
Hi Poppy, Hope you are feeling better today? You girls need to kiss and make up now, no fighting ok?
Wags, Eric
Hey Poppy, ooo, your fight sounds very scary! Hope your leg gets better soon. The purple bandage is very fetching! J x
