The K-9 walk was a success!

Hello to all you furries and not so furries! It's me, Patches! Yesterday was our big K-9 Walk for the Cure! Our mom says I get to do the post, today, because I went with her and I was a VERY good girl! Mom and I got there about 1:00 and I sat with Uncle Bill while Mom and Aunt Wendy got stuff ready for the registration. At about 2:00, doggies and their people started coming to get registered and I moved over to sit with Mom because Uncle Bill had to go home and get Ezzy Rider and Jagger.

Mom was seated at a table where people could buy tickets for drawings on some doggie stuff that was donated. My leash was tied to Mom's chair and I got to greet almost everydoggie that came by. We made lots of money for the American Cancer Society and I had a blast! I met lots and lots of other doggies and I was very nice to all of them except that girl doggie that I had my picture taken with a couple of weeks ago. No one knows why, but the two of us just do NOT get along. We tried to bite each other's faces off and all the other doggies scattered. I guess they were afraid of us! Anyhoo, no one got hurt and our people just made sure we stayed away from each other for the rest of the day.
The pictures we had taken won't be in the paper until about a week from now. I guess that paper is only published one time a month, so it won't actually come out until long after the "walk". There were lots of photographers there, yesterday and we don't know when those pictures will be published. Mom took our camera along, but she never got to take any pictures! Mainly because she was sitting in a folding chair that was so low that she could barely see over the table and if she stood up, I might run away with the chair! It's okay, though, lots of other pictures were taken and we hope to get copies of some of them.
We met an actual police doggie! The doggie was wearing a leather muzzle and his handler gave us all a talk about just exactly what the police doggies does for a living! I sure am glad I'm a law abiding doggie because I sure don't want him chasing, biting or barking at me! We had a lot of vendors that came to show off what they sell. There were several booths where they passed out doggie treats. We took all of mine home with us, because I was just too nervous to eat in front of the other doggies. Besides, that way, I can share with Poppy and Penny. All in all, it was a great day! Even though I got pretty hot, I had lots of fun! I even slipped out of my prong collar when we were in the parking lot getting ready to get back into the Aire-mobile! Fortunately, I only ran about 20 feet and my mom crouched down and called to me. I ran right to her and Uncle Bill held me while Mom put my collar and leash back on. Yep, that was my mom's only heart attack for the day!
When we got home, I was so excited that I didn't even eat most of my supper. I did, however, drink about 3 gallons of water! Yes, there was water for me at the park, but I didn't drink any of it. I ate all my breakfast, this morning and now I am trying to get rested up!

It seems Spring has finally arrived, here in Georgia! This is one of our Magnolia trees in full bloom! We have two of them...one is a Japanese Magnolia and the other is a Saucer Magnolia. You will see the other one as you scroll on down. Mom can't remember which tree is which, but it doesn't really matter...they are both very pretty!

The evil skwerrels like to eat the blossoms from this one! If their skwerrel feeder is empty, they attack the green bird feeder first, but since it is skwerrel proof (ha ha), they start eating the Magnolia blossoms! It's a good thing our mom tries to keep their feeder full!
Well, everybuddy, I'm off to have about my fourth nap of the day! Yesterday was a really long and exciting day, so I need to catch up on my nappies!
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Poppy & Penny too)

What an exciting day you had -- and for such a good cause. You deserved lots of treats for being so welcoming to everybody --except that girlie dog.

JH has "a thing" about two little dogs that live across the way. We don't know why -- but when he sees them through the window, he can't control himself. And, if we see them when we are out walking, he starts to whine and whimper and won't move. Curious!

Listen, we have breaking news: our human brother, the USF band director, has been accepted at the University of Georgia to get his phD in conducting. So he'll be leaving Tampa in the summer for -- guess where -- Athens!! That means we may be driving up there occasionally so maybe we'll get a chance to sniff you all in pawson. We were very excited when we looked at the map!!

Wirey woofs,

Jake and Just Harry

Hiya, P's! We've been away for so long that we've missed a lot, it seems. First, we're very sorry for the loss suffered by Lulu, Bogart, and their family. Very sad. :(

We are glad to hear the walk went well, though. We hope that horrible disease will be defeated soon.

Keep having fun, ladies--you're so good at it! Happy Spring!

Hey, Penny, Poppy & Patches!

K9 walks, and airecuts, and giant squirrels... OH MY! I'm catching up on your last few posts and it looks like you've all been busy there in Airedale Heaven! I sure would like to get a chance to snuggle with your new Rocky the Squirrel before he too goes to that great stuffie heaven in the sky.

Sounds like the K9 walk for the cure was a HUGE success! Patches, I'm stinkin' proud of you for being such a good girl. Who knows what it is about that other girlpup. You don't have to get along with everydoggie, and at least nodog got hurt!

So tell me, did you get to sniff the police doggie, or would he even let you get that close? Did he carry a gun? What kind of dog was he? A German Shepherd?

I'm glad to hear the walk went off so well and that you raised money for such a good cause. I bet Penny & Poppy were glad you didn't eat your treats so they got to partake. Tell them I'm sure they'll look bootiful once they get their spring airecuts. Can't wait to see them.

By the way, I finally just posted about my Mango Minster prizes. Come on over and see how Wheelie Stan is fitting in (my girl only let me get near him once, and now he's up on the shelf where even I can't reach him)!

Goober love & smooches,
Stanley
