Well, this time she was wrong! She went out into the kitchen and found me lying on the floor next to Dad. I was trembling and panting a lot, but I wasn't hiding. She said, "Penny, I sure wish you'd let me take your picture with your storm shirt on." Well, sneaky Dad already had the camera turned on so while Mom was trying to make me feel better, he snapped these pictures.
Since it was storming, we figured no one would be shooting off fireworks. Wrong!!! They started right after the rain started and continued for about an hour. We can't figure out how they got them lit! Even the guy across the street from us was shooting off bottle rockets in his driveway. Mom says it's revenge for all the times we woke him up with our mower before about 11:00 in the morning. We don't know what kind of job he has, but he sleeps really late everyday. I hope we're even, now!
Usually, when it thunders or I hear fireworks, I bark like a mad fool. Well, with the storm shirt on, I never barked once! We can't figure out why or how it works, but it does. Poppy and Patches couldn't care less about the loud noises. They just look at the doors on the back of the house and cock their heads like they are trying to figure out where the noises are coming from. I wish I could be like that too, but since I'm 9 years old and I have ALWAYS hated thunder and fireworks, I don't think that is going to change any time soon! We are supposed to get more storms today, but we are sure hoping there are no more idiots shooting off fireworks. Mom is really cranky today, since she only got about 4 hours sleep last night. We really hate it when she's cranky because she yells at us when we do our non-stop bitey-face and zoomies. What's up with that, Mom? We aren't the ones who caused you to not get enought sleep!
Aire-hugs,
Penny (and Poppy & Patches too)

We had a storm before our fireworks too, it really STINKS!
Penny,
I know what bitey face is, but what's a zoomie? Maybe me and MM can play! We rarely have thunder storms in California. Does it sound like the fireworks? That would be scary!!

Mom says she'd LOVE to put a storm shirt on me but we don't have AC and we sleep upstairs and it's too hot! We're pretty sure we're in for another round of fireworks tonight - we just don't know how close they'll be to us but we doggies that are scared can hear them for MILES and MILES, right Penny?! We're so glad it worked for you!
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
If you tighten up that storm shirt around your body, I bet it'll work even better. It'll function like an anxiety wrap, and some dogs feel a lot better during stressful times with that.
A stormy 4th of July is stinky! But I hope you got to feast on some tasty BBQ at some point this weekend. That makes storms and fireworks seem a-ok!
I'm glad the storm shirt works for you, unfortunately, I'm glad the storm shirt works for you, now you too can look like a dork like me in my storm shirt.
Stanislaw is right, a more form fitting shirt not only works better, but it makes you look thinner.

Hello Penny ! My fireworks/Storm t-shirt is green ! I don't know how, but it works...
You have the 4th of July and here it is the 1rst of August....I hate that day...
Kisses, Faya
hi Penny, we have heard about those storm shirts before. Dr. Snitchybug (Butchy & Snickers mom) makes a comfort wrap that makes dogs feel better like that shirt does.
we don't like the fireworks either, so our mom did personal 'comfort wrap' for us - she just held us and petted us all night. those darn fireworks last a long time. we don't know why humans like to do things that are so scary for us dogs.
woofs.
I'm glad to hear the storm shirt works. My mom should try it on my sister the spotted chicken Dalmatian. Penny, you do have some kind of scary eyes!
love & wags,
River
Hi, Penny!
Glad your t-shirt works for you!
We did not have fireworks but we had a storm and I barked at it hoping it was going to be away! My barking did not work! and the storm was here all night!
I hope you all had a peaceful day!
Kisses and hugs

If the storm shirt works, don't ask questions...
Glad you survived the night.

My mom had no idea about these storm shirts....and she worked for a vet for 3 years!!! We are so glad you all have them. It must be scary for you Penny. Bad fireworks!!
Hey, maybe if your mom and dad fed you s'mores (minus the chocolat of course) like my mom and dad did during the fireworks it would make you feel better!! If not at least you would have a yummy treat with the torture!!!
Penny...why do you have a storm shirt? What does that do? My human was curious, because while I was outside the other night it Thundered and I guess I looked scared and wouldn't even move. Is the shirt comforting?
Slurp!
Mr. T-Bone Beasleay
ACK! My name is Mr. T-Bone Beasley, not Mr. T-Bone Beasleay. Geeze, I could type better than my human...
Oh.. I hope you get better weather today and there's not more noisy fireworks

Hi Penny,
I am hopeless when it comes to thunder too... I normally hide in the toilet or under some furniture.
I think I need a storm shirt like you.. hopefully it'd make me feel less scared.
Hi, Penny -
I (Hershey) am scared of thunder and fireworks, too. Do those storm shirts come in small sizes? Kaci is like your sisters - thunder does not bother her at all.
Love -
Hershey and Kaci
P.S. Thanks for stopping by our BBQ - we are having another one this weekend.
Storms and fireworks the same night? Whew! We would have been panting and anxious, too.
Hope today is brighter and happier for all of you.
Happy Tails,
William Tell
Penny,
It's so nice to see a picture of you! You're so pretty you really should let your parents take more pictures of you :) I myself don't mind the fireworks but my huge brother Ziggy was scared as a chicken on the 4th of July. He didn't recover until the next day and spent the night sitting on the floor next to my mom and breathing his hot breath into her face.
Pedro
Wow you got a protective shirt from all things scary, how cool is that? I love your shirt photo

Mom found this and had to share. www.stormdefender.com
Maybe it explains the anxiety? Hope it helps!
I haven't heard of storm shirts before .. or at least I don't have one anyway. I don't mind storms, but I haven't seen any fireworks yet. Hope you get lots more rain if you need it.
Cheers
Charlie
Boy I am with you....we have had rain and thinder EVERY DAy and we got it before the fireworks also.....I go under the bed...it's awfull isnt it>>Love Agatha and Archie(doesn't bother me)
I'm sooooooo with you on the fireworks thing... it was CRAZY here, I shook like a leaf and cuddled with mom all night. Luckily she understands...
Love,
Bogart
I don't really mind the big boomers - either natural or man-made (though when they are really big I do a tuck-butt run all around the house and get really jazzed!). I am glad that the storm shirt helped though, it's never fun being stressed out!
The Canada Day fireworks really freaked me out last week. A storm shirt sounds like a really good idea.. even better than the hugs I was getting, which didn't completely calm me. Mama's going to get me a real tight one. Thanks for the idea. Glad you survived!

lOh my...ya looked like u were going to take a nap in that sleep shirt!! Mumsie thought they had to be tight...er um so SHE DUCT TAPED ME INTO A SMALL SHIRT DURING OUR LAST STORM. Yep...and it wasn't even the pretty colored duct tape. Nope...the ugly silver. Sigh. I looked very unattractive...and I still panted and shook...maybe cuz she was cuttin' off my circulation.
Sniff....
The fireworks were atrocious. I'm as patriotic as the next doggie, but these fireworks have gotta stop. Noise pollution!!!!!
Love you girlies...
Lacie
Penny Girl!
I'm so stinkin' happy the storm shirt worked for you! At least you can just hang with your peeps while you ride out the storm or wait for the dreaded fireworks to be over.
Me, I'm not scared of thunder or fireworks. At least those are respectable things to be scared by. Nope. I'm scared of butterflies, moths, and flying insects. Not all the time, but if I feel like they're dive bombing me it freaks me out. Go figure.
We've ALL got something.
Goober love,
Stanley
