Happy New Y-Aire to all our bloggin' buddies!

Greetings, fur buddies! It's me, Patches! As we are preparing to say "Goodbye" to 2008, we are kind of looking back at this year. It has been one heck of a year for ME! In May, my mom and Aunt Wendy rescued me from a stinky motel room where I was living with a bunch of c-a-t-s and some hooman who hardly ever fed me. I was sent to see a v-e-t. He gave me all my shots and found out that I did NOT have heartworm. Woohoo! The next day, my new mom and Aunt Wendy picked me up and I came home to meet Poppy and Penny.
We had a bit of a rough start since I had never lived with other doggies before. Once I figured out that Poppy is the Alpha, things have been much better. In September, I had my fix-it surgery even though I didn't know I was broken! I healed up very quickly and was back to bitey-face in no time at all!

Now that I have entered the witness protection program and I have lived here at Airedale Heaven for about 7 months and one week, I am doing great! I have gained about 14 pounds so none of my bones stick out anymore. And boy, have I learned a LOT since I've been here! I have learned that I can't get near Penny when she's eating and when we beg at the table, there is a "pecking" order...first Penny, then Poppy and them ME! I even make sure to get out of the way so the other girls can get their treats first.

Yesterday, I even taught Mom and Aunt Wendy something. I taught them that NO ONE is going to cut my toenails! Not without a helmet and maybe some welding gloves! Actually, full body armour would be better! Mom was holding me and Aunt Wendy was trying to cut my nails, but every time she got a good grip on one of my toenails, I thrashed my head around and threatened to bite. That made Aunt Wendy lose the grip on my nail and Mom jumped out of the way. You see, my mom has dental implants in her lower jaw and she is always afraid somedoggie is going to throw their head back and break her jaw. We wouldn't do it on purpose, but you just never know!

Poppy and Penny each got all their toenails cut and then smoothed out with the Pedi Paws. They were good girls, but I am going to have to go to the vet to get my front ones done.
Poppy has an absess, on her fuzzbutt, and Mom has been doctoring it. We didn't know what it was, but since Aunt Wendy was a vet tech for many years, Mom had her look at it, yesterday. She said it was an absess, but it is draining and getting better, so Mom has decided to doctor it with hot compresses and Neosporin three times a day. It's looks quite a bit better today! If it isn't better yet, by tomorrow, Poppy will be going to the v-e-t on Friday.

Friday will be our first blogaversary and we would like to thank everyone for being our friends! It has been sooooo cool to meet other furry critters from all over the world. It's the first time in our lives when we all got barkday greetings from all different parts of the world. We have laughed with all of you and cried with all of you and we hope that 2009 only brings laughter to everydoggie, kitty, hammie, bear and hooman!
We would really like to stay up for the chat pawty, tonight, but since we get up sooooo early, and the pawty doesn't start until 10 p.m., here in Georgia, we will have to miss it. Our personal secretary will probably be sleeping by 9:30 or 10:00, so we will just lie in our beds and keep our paws crossed for Maggie. We just heard that her dad and Mitch went out in a blinding snow storm to get her some ice cream. We sure hope they made it home safely and we hope Maggie really enjoyed her ice cream. We know that ice cream fixes EVERYTHING! Here's to ice cream for EVERYDOGGIE!
Happy New Y-aire and we'll see you all in 2009!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy, Penny & Patches

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OUR DWB FRIENDS!!!!

Hi everybuddy! It's me, Poppy! We hope all of you are having a great Christmas or Hannukah or whatever you celebrate! We got some really cool presents from Santa Paws, this year. We got Mickey and Minnie Mouse, a frog with really big eyes, a penguin and I, Poppy got a new ginormous teddy bear. I can't wait to perform my special, secret ritual on him!
Patches has already attempted an eye-ectomy on the penguin, but Mom keeps yelling at her to quit it. We have heard a nasty rumor that Pokey the gigantic lion is on his way to the basement so Mom can de-stuff him. She said something about being tired of picking up tiny styrofoam balls from the living room floor. He's FULL of those tiny things, so Mom is going to cut him open and put all of them into a big plastic bag so she can use them for packing the stuff she sells on Ebay. Poor Pokey! Mom says he's lived a long and useful life and it's time to recycle him. Besides, he's COVERED with my slobber and he doesn't fit in the washing machine.

I have tried really hard to remove one of the froggie's eyes, but so far, no luck. I will keep trying, though, when no hooman is looking!

We also got some smaller toys that we unwrapped all by ourselves. Once we had ours open, we helped Dad with some of his. It was sooooo much fun! We tried to open our own treats too, but Dad had to help us so we didn't eat them all at one time. Now, THAT would have been a great Christmas if we had 'sploded the treats all over the living room floor! Miam, Miam (as Faya would say)!

Now, I'm going to do this until our Christmas dinner is ready. Okay, I might play with the stuffies some more too! I already took one outside, this morning and Mom had to go out and rescue it. Of course, it was the one and only WHITE stuffie we got! He was kind of reddish color when Mom brought him in, so he's in the washing machine right now!
We would like to thank each and every one of you for the great cards you sent us! We have 105 and our peeple still only have 10. Heeheehee!
Merry Christmas, everydoggie, kitty, hamsterrier, bear and hooman!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy, Penny & Patches

DWB cards, award...and other impawtant stuffs!

Hi everybuddy! It's me, Patches! We are finally all done with our snail mail and e-cards. If we missed anybuddy, it wasn't intentional. Please accept this card from us to you! The three of us girls have received 82 cards and our pawrents have 3! Heeheehee! Maybe it's because we are so much cuter than they are!...or furrier...whatever!
Some time ago, we received this cool award from Kess and her mama. Thank you sooooo much! We will put it on our side bar and be very proud of it!

This is me and Poppy begging our dad for some date bar. Every year, Mom makes him one little pan of date bars. Mom doesn't eat them and they are way too hard to make in a large quantity.

This is a rare picture of Penny (with the scary eyes). She really wanted some date bar, but she was also trying to get away from the camera. What a camera chicken!

This is our teeny tiny ceramic Christmas tree. Mom puts it on an antique plant stand so Santa Paws can put all our presents under it, when he gets here. There are tiny lights on it, but we only turn it on at night time.

This is a crocheted Christmas tree that our mom made many, many years ago. Her grandma taught her to crochet when she was 9 years old. She used to crochet a lot, but since she started needle felting, she doesn't do it so much anymore. Just once in a while to make sure she still remembers how. Our mom is amazed that none of us doggies have messed with this tree. It has a styrofoam cone inside that is wrapped with polyfil. That's like a dog magnet for us! Since all our stuffies have polyfil inside them, we think anything that smells like polyfil must be for us!
I got in huge trouble on Wednesday. Mom had wrapped some Christmas presents and stacked them on a trunk at the end of the guest bed. Then, she left and went to spend the day with Aunt Wendy. Well, I guess I got bored or something and I cruised around the house looking for something to get into. Dad was in his workshop in the basement so he didn't know what we were up to. He only knew that we were quiet and we weren't making the thundering herd noises. Well, when he came upstairs, he found one of the presents unwrapped on the living room floor. I had a ripping good time with the paper, but he caught me before I destroyed the present. Lucky for me!

This is Poppy when Mom came home from the groomer's. She went to get a haircut and she got sheared like a sheep! Her hair is really short and she says she looks like a pinhead! You see, our Mom has bleached her hair for about 4 years and she has decided to let it go back to her natural color. She isn't too sure, right now, what her natural color is. It used to be blue-black, but not anymore. It's mostly gray and white, but right now, she looks like Chester Cheetah! The ends are still platinum blond, but the roots are a mixture of gray, black and white. Yep...Chester Cheetah for sure! She says she'll decide what to do with it once she finds out what color it really is!
Our Bluebirds have been coming to our deck everyday to eat! We are soooo excited! Yesterday, we had 5 of them all at one time! I, Patches, got so excited that I barked at them, but they only flew as far as the deck rail. I guess they must be used to us doggies by now!
Well, everybuddy, I'm going outside now to enjoy my poop-free back yard. Mom poopie-scooped this morning and she filled up the bucket twice! So...if you happen to be a trash collector in our town, be aware that there are 2 big bags of poop waiting for you in our trash barrell. Merry Christmas! Heeheehee! (Mom says that's not funny, but we think it's hysterical)!!
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Poppy & Penny too!)

We just had visitors!

Greetings to all of our fellow furries and not-so-furries! It's me, Patches! Just a few minutes ago, we had some visitors. Remember our bluebirds from last spring and summer? Well four of them just came for a visit! There were 3 males and one female. Two of the males went into the bluebird house and the female stayed outside and peeked in the hole. Maybe they were looking for a warm place to sleep tonight. (It has rained for 2 days and now it is supposed to get really cold and maybe even snow!) The third male ate a mealworm from the bowl on the table and then went to the seed feeder in the back yard. They stayed around for a little while and then flew away again. We sure hope they come back soon! Mom and Dad are thrilled to know they are still around!
We would like to thank everyone who sent us a Christmas card! As of this morning, we girls have received 54 cards. Our mom and dad have received FOUR! Nanananananana! We are winning! We keep telling them that we are waaaaaaaaay more popular than they are!

Sorry we haven't been around lately. Our mom is baking Christmas cookies and she hasn't had time to help us blog much lately. She already wrapped and mailed all the presents to our relatives in Ohio, so now, she is concentrating on making sure Santa Paws shows up at our house. Usually, at this time of year, she makes like a hundred packages of cookies, but this year, she is making LOTS less! She used to make them for the man she worked for so he could give them to his customers. Now that she is unemployed, they will only be going to our vets, the mailman, maybe a neighbor and of course, Ezzy and Jagger's pawrents. So far, we haven't even had one bite of a cookie, but we keep watching closely and hoping a piece falls our way!
Well, everybuddy, we're going back to watch for the bluebirds some more!
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Poppy & Penny too)

We missed Wheely Wednesday AGAIN!

Hello to all our fellow furry ones! It's me, Patches! I get to do the post today because I have been such a good girl that my crate has been removed from the house! Yes, I still have the big quilted blankie that was in my crate, but now I have no walls! Mom says my blankie can stay in the kitchen for a few nights, but then the bar stools go back where they were and my blankie will go into the big bedroom with Poppy & Penny. I don't know why I usually prefer to sleep in the kitchen. Maybe so I can keep an eye out for anyone who happens to get up in the middle of the night...or maybe since those other dogs sleep in the bedroom, I think it is my duty to watch out for intruders.
These next 2 pictures are yet another attempt at getting that elusive bitey-face photo. The one above is me, Patches squinting my eyes because Poppy just ran by me and bit me!

This is Poppy up close and pawsonal when she ran away after trying to bite my face off! Mom got another video of us, but of course, our stupid new computer won't open it! (Thank you, Vista!)

This is all three of us crowded around our daddy while he was carving our Thanksgiving turkey. Poppy and I can't take our eyes off Dad, but Penny thinks she saw a tiny piece fall from the sky. We actually managed to not get in any fights. I don't think anydog even Aire-snapped the other two. It was a miracle! We each got a few bites and we were very happy! We had a really great day...eating and napping, eating and napping. Oh, wait, that's what we do EVERY DAY! Along with lots of bitey-face and zoomies!
Our mom thinks she has all our DWB Christmas cards done now. We sure hope she didn't miss anyone! There were a couple of e-cards that wouldn't go through cyber space so if we missed you, we are very sorry!
We are having a very cold and ugly day today. It is supposed to be raining, but it only sprinkles once in a while. Mom wants to pick up leaves, but it's just too darn cold since she isn't wearing a fur coat like we are! Well, we just came back in from outside and we think it is about time for a nap (or maybe a snack).
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Poppy & Penny too)
