Penny's storm and fireworks shirt!

Hi everybody! It's me, Penny! I don't get to post very often since I'm such a camera chicken, but last night, Dad got some pictures of me in my storm shirt. This picture could have qualified for Deetz's scary eye contest. We had a very peaceful day, for the 4th of July until it started to get dark outside. First, it started to thunder and lightning and then the rains came. We aren't complaining about the rain, because we are desperate for all we can get. During the thunder, my mom was wondering why I wasn't in the living room trying to get behind furniture. She figured Dad must have opened the basement door for me.
Well, this time she was wrong! She went out into the kitchen and found me lying on the floor next to Dad. I was trembling and panting a lot, but I wasn't hiding. She said, "Penny, I sure wish you'd let me take your picture with your storm shirt on." Well, sneaky Dad already had the camera turned on so while Mom was trying to make me feel better, he snapped these pictures.

Since it was storming, we figured no one would be shooting off fireworks. Wrong!!! They started right after the rain started and continued for about an hour. We can't figure out how they got them lit! Even the guy across the street from us was shooting off bottle rockets in his driveway. Mom says it's revenge for all the times we woke him up with our mower before about 11:00 in the morning. We don't know what kind of job he has, but he sleeps really late everyday. I hope we're even, now!
Usually, when it thunders or I hear fireworks, I bark like a mad fool. Well, with the storm shirt on, I never barked once! We can't figure out why or how it works, but it does. Poppy and Patches couldn't care less about the loud noises. They just look at the doors on the back of the house and cock their heads like they are trying to figure out where the noises are coming from. I wish I could be like that too, but since I'm 9 years old and I have ALWAYS hated thunder and fireworks, I don't think that is going to change any time soon! We are supposed to get more storms today, but we are sure hoping there are no more idiots shooting off fireworks. Mom is really cranky today, since she only got about 4 hours sleep last night. We really hate it when she's cranky because she yells at us when we do our non-stop bitey-face and zoomies. What's up with that, Mom? We aren't the ones who caused you to not get enought sleep!
Aire-hugs,
Penny (and Poppy & Patches too)

'sploding stuffies and Patches' third great escape!

Hi everyone! It's me, Patches! I get to do the post today even though I have been a baaaaaad girl! This morning, Mom was working out in the back yard and when she came in, she counted heads like she always does before closing the door. She counted Penny and Poppy, but I seemed to be missing. Mom searched the back yard and no Patches. She checked all the rooms, in the house, and no Patches. The last place she checked was the basement and still no Patches. By that time, she was starting to panic. She thought it was really strange that I didn't come when she was calling me since I ALMOST always come! When she finally realized that I wasn't in the house or the backyard, she and Dad ran out the front door looking for me and calling me. They didn't know it, but I was two houses down trying to figure out why I could hear the neighbor dogs barking, but I couldn't see them! The man right next door to us and his daughter were out in their front yard and they heard Mom and Dad going crazy. Finally, the man spotted me in the other neighbor's yard. He told Mom that he could see me and then EVERYONE started calling me. I figured I better head back home before someone had a heart attack or something. Mom was squatting down and calling me, but I ran right past her and headed for the basement door. The little neighbor girl tried to catch me, but I was too fast for her! Finally, Mom showed up and opened the fence to the back yard and I ran in. Mom was mumbling something about being too old for all the heart attacks I give her and too fat to chase me. Hey, I don't know what the big fuss was about...I came back HOME!
After my great adventure, our mom was walking through the house and found me stretched out on the guest bed. I had made myself a nice nest with this blanket I found.

I was even roaching, but I was too fast for the camera to catch me!

I don't know what's wrong with me playing on the guest bed. After all, I am Princess Patches and I plan on ruling this house someday!

Yesterday, when Mom came home from work, Dad told her that there was a surprise for her in the big bedroom. He wouldn't tell her what it was...he said she could look after they ate dinner. Well...this is what she found! Poppy and I had a great roaching session on the bed!
The thing that really surprised her was the snow storm in the bedroom. We did destructo-mania on a poor unsuspecting bunny rabbit!

We found him after he 'sploded and we thought he needed to have some major surgery. You can see the two guilty parties in these pictures.

Last night, when Mom went to put us outside for our last potties of the night, she found this zebra on the kitchen floor. He 'sploded all by himself! We can't figure out why, all of a sudden, our toys are 'sploding all over the place!

Poor Mr. Bunny raggit is totally blind now and he's waiting in Dad's wagon for the next time someone makes a trip to the trash barrel.
After Mom found the Zebra, he joined the bunny raggit in the wagon. Rest in peace Mr Raggit and Zebra. We loved you TO DEATH!!!

We wish a great 4th of July to everyone in America and a happy weekend to all our international buddies! See you next time!
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Penny & Poppy too)

Wheely Wednesday!

Hello to all our furry and not-so-furry friends! It's me, PorkChop. Thanks for stopping by for Wheely Wednesday!

I have been watching those real doggies from my home in the china cabinet and they have been having some really fun times! Yesterday, Mom and Dad went someplace and left all 3 Aire-girls loose in the house. That was the first time Patches wasn't put in her crate when they left. Since it was Mom's idea, Dad told her she was responsible for the destruction. Well, there wasn't any! As soon as they got home, Mom checked the whole house and didn't find a single thing out of place and no potties anywhere! Woohoo! Everydog was a good girl! Maybe it was because they knew I was watching them. I saw all three of them just walking around and napping a lot. This time, our pawrents were only gone for about an hour. Maybe, next time, they will leave them all loose for a little longer.

See this guilty looking face? Well, once our pawrents came back home, Poppy and Patches proceeded to play bitey face ALL day long! A lot of times, Penny joined in so there was chaos in our house all day. Dad was trying to watch a movie and Mom was trying to Furminate all the doggies, but they wouldn't stop with the bitey face and bitey legs. Dad squirted all of them with the water bottle several times, but each time, it only broke it up for a few seconds. In between all the bitey face, they did a lot of zoomies. I wished I could have joined them, but it was no place for a wheelie to take a chance on getting eaten!
Mom tried to do an orderly Furmination, but that didn't work out so well. She started on Penny, but Poppy and Patches kept jumping in. Her idea of Furminating one doggie at a time went up in smoke. She finally just used the Furminator on which ever dog she could reach at the time. You should have seen the pile of Aire-hair she got out of all those doggies. For once, nodog ran off with the pile of hair. Usually, at least one of them (Patches) grabs the pile and distributes it all over the kitchen. I think it's pretty funny, but Mom doesn't seem to be amused by it. She says it's really too bad she can't use it in her needle felting. She COULD use it if someone would wash it and separate the black from the tan. She thinks it's just easier to buy wool that has already been washed and the colors separated. I think she's just too lazy to go through all that work!

Remember our Bluebird puppies? Well, here's a picture of the three babies in the bird bath. This was taken before they all disappeared for about two weeks. Last night, they came back and we think they are here to help feed the new babies. Mason and Mena have been taking food into the nesting box and dropping it. Their heads always come back out without whatever they took in, so we think the babies have hatched!

This is one of the first babies being fed by it's mom. The daddy did most of the feeding, but that didn't stop the babies from opening their beaks everytime the mom came near one of them. They are old enough, now, to have lots of coloring so we think at least one of them is a female and one is a male. The third one, we aren't sure about yet. We wonder how many will be in this new "litter"!
Well, everyone, I'm going to rest, now, in my china cabinet. I have to get all psyched up for Mom's vacation. Today is the last day she has to work for 11 whole days! We are sooooo looking forward to it...especially Mom! See you all next Wheely Wednesday!
Aire-hugs,
PorkChop (and Poppy, Penny & Patches too!)

Not much going on around here!

Hi everydog, kitty, hammie, bear and hooman. It's me, Poppy! This has been a pretty uneventful week around here. For US, that's a GOOD thing!! No fights, no vet visits or any bad stuff happening. We like it that way!
We have been kind of sad, this week since Baby Love and Rufus went to the bridge, but the one bright spot, in the week, was when Asta NY told us that Sadie Sue had found a home. We were very happy about that! We were all very worried since she was scheduled to be euthanized on Friday, but some wonderful person came along at the last minute and rescued her. Sadie Sue, we hope you have a really wonderful life from now on!!!!
The picture, above is somedog's hind legs. Our mom's camera has a delay after you press the button to take a picture and it gives us a chance to run away before the picture snaps. We seem to get quite a lot of these out-takes!

Mom was doing a photo shoot of me and Patches got her tail in one of my pictures. Mom can't wait until her next Aire-cut so she can get rid of that squirrel tail. When she was groomed, right before she came here, they didn't do her tail. We don't know whether she wouldn't let them or if they just ran out of time since Mom and Aunt Wendy got there before they were finished. Anyway, it looks pretty silly, but they will fix it next time.

I am still on a d-i-e-t. As you can see from my backside, I'm still a little porky. Mom thinks I have lost a little bit of weight, but it's hard to tell. It's pretty interesting around here with two doggies on diets and one who needs to eat everything in sight! We've been eating a lot of green beans and our treats have been cut in half. Oh, we still get just as many, but each one is a smaller size. Penny and I think that stinks!

Princess Patches has decided that ALL of our toys belong in one of the bedrooms. Last night, Mom had to remove 9 toys from the bed! Also, she has learned how to steal cherry tomatoes right off the vine. She carries each one around for a while and plays with it and then she finally eats it. What a doofus! She even smashed one on the carpet before she ate it!
Well, everyone, that's about it for today. I TOLD you there wasn't much going on! See you all next time!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy, Penny & Patches

Wheely Wednesday!

Hi everydog, kitty, hammie, bear and hooman! It's me, PorkChop! Yesterday, I got to have a rare adventure outside in the daylight! All the real doggies were busy so our mom took me out to check on the tomato plants.
These cherry tomatoes are doing great! Dad has already eaten a whole bunch of them. They look like they are small enough for ME to eat, but I guess I better not smoosh any red tomato juice on my beautimous snooter. I don't think Mom would like that!

This bucket thingy for growing tomatoes looks like a good idea. They get watered from the top and every once in a while, Dad gives them an extra shot of Miracle Gro. Mom is waiting to get enough green ones to have fried green tomatoes. It won't be long now, Mom!

It's kind of starting to look like a tomato jungle, over here! Growing them this way sure makes it easier to pick them off the vine. Last year, we grew them in the ground and we lost a lot that were too close to the house and our pawrents couldn't reach them. This year, all they have to do is turn the buckets around to reach them from all sides.

I had to go check this one too. It is one that the little neighbor girl gave to our mom for Mother's Day. Since we didn't have room for any more buckets, we planted it in a ginormous flower pot. It seems to be doing well too. I see some blossoms on here that will turn into tomatoes! Dad had to tie it to the deck rail because it was growing so tall that it was falling over.

Uh oh! Here comes Poppy to sniff my butt. I guess maybe my great outdoor adventure will have to end soon. I don't want Poppy slobber all over my fur!

Here's a picture of Patches with one of her favorite toys. As you can see, she's taken over the big bed. She likes to lay up there and look down on Poppy and Penny when they are in their beds.

She thinks she's hot stuff laying up there like the supreme ruler of Airedale Heaven! I even saw all three of the girls playing together, this morning. I'm hoping that means no more fights or 'spensive vet bills for our pawrents! Princess Patches seems to be figuring out that play time doesn't have turn into an all out war.
Well, everyone, I need to go back to my china cabinet so Mom can do some needle felting before she goes to that work place. She's making wheelies for Apache, Yalo, Tuddy and Willow! I say the more wheelies...the better! Maybe, one day, we wheelies can rule the world!
See you all next Wheely Wednesday!
Aire-hugs,
PorkChop (and Poppy, Penny & Patches too)

Patches has been here 4 weeks and Poppy's in trouble!

Hi everybody! It's me, Patches! I have been here at Airedale Heaven for four weeks now and boy, have I learned a lot! I guess the first thing I learned was that it's okay for me to go out in the backyard without a leash. Woohoo! Freedom! I have checked out every inch of the yard and I'm making it my mission to catch one of those evil squirrels or chipmunks. Poppy and Penny keep telling me that it can't be done, but they aren't as fast as I am.
One of the really big things I've learned is how to eat from a fork. Yes, us doggies have our own forks. It's something about Mom and Dad liking to keep their fingers. Anyhoo, when I first came here, they would give me a treat on a fork and I would try to swallow the fork. I have finally figured out that: A.) the fork is not eatable, and B.) each and every treat I get will not be the LAST! There's always more where that one came from. Maybe it's because I am starting to put on some more weight and I don't feel like I'm absolutely starving to death anymore. Believe me, we get LOTS of treats. Of course, mine are always twice the size of Penny and Poppy's. Somehow, I don't think that will go on forever!

I am also learning how to play with toys and the other doggies. I know you've heard about the fights we got into, last week. Well, this week has been much better. Mom and Dad are watching us just to make sure we don't start any trouble. Okay...so I don't start any trouble! I just want to be the first one out the door and the first one to greet Mom when she comes home from work. I know Poppy is the alpha, but I am just still learning how to play. I will get it right one of these days. When I first came here, I had no interest in toys, but now I LOVE the stuffies! Everyday, I make a pile of them in the middle of the big bed and Mom has to remove them before it's time to go to bed. Heeheehee!

This is Poppy's guilty face. She got in big trouble, today! Some of you may remember that she is a "shopper". She likes to take stuff that doesn't belong to her. Well, since she hasn't been feeling so great, lately, her "shopping" trips have pretty much stopped. That is...until today! Mom and Dad were in the kitchen and all of a sudden, Penny and I went running into the living room. Mom jumped up to make sure none of us was causing trouble and she caught Poppy sitting in the middle of the floor with the bag of pipe cleaners that our mom uses to make wire armatures for her felted critters. Poppy had chewed several pieces off the plastic wrapper and slobbered all over a bunch of the pipe cleaners. Mom couldn't even get mad because she was so glad Poppy is getting back to her old "self". I'm sure glad it wasn't Penny or me that did it!

I have discovered the toy pile in the corner of the living room! Yesterday, I played with the Wubba that Scruffy, Lacie and BabyStan sent to Captain High Pockets. I was SHOCKED when I heard it squeak! It was sooooo fun! Of course, that made Poppy and Penny want it, but I wouldn't let them have it! I hid it under one of the pillows on the big bed and Mom found it last night. Heeheehee! It was nice and slobbery too!

So...let's see...after 4 weeks, I guess I have learned enough to fit in pretty well with Poppy and Penny! I have to check out this "shopping" thing that Poppy does though...I think that might be fun! For some strange reason, Penny never does it! Mom says that Pockets, their very first Aire-girl, was the queen of shoppers! That gives me a goal to reach for...as soon as I learn how to "shop"! I'll start working on it!
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Poppy & Penny too)

Wheely Wednesday!

Hi everybody! It's me, Petey! I'm reporting today from my home in the china cabinet. My buddy Knut the polar bear, who lives in the bowl next to me, is telling me a secret. Ok, it's not really a secret...he says Poppy got her bandage off this morning. She's doing much better, but you can tell she isn't 100% better yet. It is a good sign, though, that she has started humping her toys again. That's always a sign that she is getting back to normal!

She's spending less time in her bed and more time begging for treats. She's also running to come in from outside, now, instead of just walking slowly.

I've been busy watching the Bluebirds. The mama and papa have a new batch of eggies in their new house. Yesterday, they hung around the house all day so our pawrents think maybe the eggies were hatching. I guess we will know pretty soon if they start carrying the meal wormies into the nest. In the mean time, the 3 little piggy babies are coming to eat wormies from the bowl. They eat by themselves until their mom or dad shows up. Then, they open their mouths and act like they can't feed themselves. What lazy birdies! They have also been taking baths in their water bowl. They VOLUNTARILY take baths! None of us doggies would do THAT!

Poppy is still playing with the crab that Pedro sent us. He doesn't squeak anymore because Poppy, Penny & Patches loved him to death. That doesn't stop Poppy from carrying him and throwing him around though. Patches has tried to take him away from Poppy a few times, but Mom makes her get away from her. She isn't taking any chances on anymore doggie fights until Poppy is all better. It's a good thing us wheelies don't fight! We just stand around in the china cabinet, looking cute until the lights all go off at night...then we start wheeling all over the place! We always have to keep our guard up, though, just in case one of those real doggies decides to make a trip to the kitchen.
See you all next Wheely Wednesday!
Aire-hugs,
Petey the wheelie (and Poppy, Penny & Patches too)
