Christmas Aire-fight and Happy New Year to all!

Hello and Happy New Year to all our bloggy buddies...furry and not-so-furry! It's me, Patches! Yep, once again, I have a lot to say! We 3 P's are hoooooge trouble with our mom! On Christmas Eve day, Poppy proceeded to half-way unwrap one of our toys that was under the Christmas tree. Mom heard something rustling and went to investigate. She wrestled the package away from Poppy and put it back. Then she had the nerve to put a gate up in front of the tree, so we couldn't get to the packages! The NERVE of that woman!
Well, on Christmas morning, she took the gate away and passed out presents for us to open. We were having a blast until somedoggies decided that they both wanted the same present. Okay, it wasn't "somedoggies", it was me and Poppy! We ended up in one hoooooge Aire-fight! Penny joined in and all 3 of us were flashing our gnashers at each other and landing several good bites! Mom was screaming at us and we finally stopped the madness! Somedoggie bled all over the living room floor and Mom still doesn't know which one of us did it. She checked each one of us and couldn't find out who was bleeding. The one who came out on the worst end of the fight, was the fox stuffie in the picture above. He spilled his guts and his voice box all over the place!

This morning, I walked past Poppy and for no apparent reason, she attacked me! She was biting my neck and we were growling like crazy. Then Penny joined in and they were both attacking me! I didn't do ANYTHING except walk by Poppy and look at her! Mom saw the whole thing and she told Poppy that there was absolutely no reason for the attack! Mom was screaming at us again and she hit Poppy with a paint paddle, but Poppy still wouldn't leave me alone. Mom grabbed a book and hit Poppy with it several times, but she still came right back after me. Mom ended up with a cut finger and her heart racing about a million miles per hour! She finally got me away from Poppy and put me in the kitchen with the gate closed so Poppy and Penny were in the living room. She checked me all over and couldn't find any blood, but she still wouldn't let us get together for quite a while. Our mom is really upset by Poppy's behavior lately! She can't figure out what's causing it and it is really upsetting our dad!
We would like to thank all of you who sent us Christmas cards even though we didn't sign up for the DWB card exchange this year. We hope everyone has a really great 2010! WE are just happy that our dad is still with us!
PUPDATE: Wed. Dec. 30: Hi, everybuddy! It's me, Poppy. I just got home from the v-e-t and yes, he put that nasty thermometer up my butt! My pawrents suspected I had some sort of problem, even though I seemed to be fine. I have two infected toofers and a lip fold pyoderma that is also infected. My vet says that's probably where all the blood came from after our Christmas morning fight. Anyhoo, I have ant-eye-bye-oticks to take for 2 weeks and I also got some meds for my arfritis! If this doesn't stop the fighting, Dr. Hardee wants to put me on a doggie tranquilizer! He says it might be because of all the changes in our household that have happened lately. We doggies are having a hard time adjusting to the fact that we just don't come FIRST around here anymore!

Patches (and Penny and Poppy too)

Merry Christmas to all!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, everybuddy! It's me, Patches. Yeah, I know that's Poppy in the picture! My personal secretary (aka Mom) wasn't entirely "with the program" when she loaded the pictures for this post!
She's sleep deprived! Mostly, thanks to ME! I've been waking her up everymorning around 4:00. She tried tricking me by going to bed an hour early, thinking she could get an extra hour of sleep that way. Nope! Then I wake her up at 3:00! Heeheehee! She can't fool ME! Hey, I KNOW how many hours there are supposed to be between my trips outside and my feeding times. What I can't figure out is why Mom gets so upset with us when we go back to sleep as soon as we eat our breakfast! She keeps saying, "Nodoggie better be sleeping!"

Okay, FINALLY, there's a picture of me! My furs are starting to grow back from when my mom and Aunt Wendy sheered me like a sheepie! I am getting beautimous again!
We just want to tell everybuddy to have a very Merry Christmas...or Happy Hannukah...or whatever you all celebrate! We hope you all have a safe and fun howliday!
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Penny & Poppy too)

We had visitors! One furry and one not so much!

Hi everybuddy! It's me, Poppy! I know, I know...I don't get to blog much anymore since that blond dog, aka Patches moved in with us! She's always hoggin' the 'puter! Anyway, I wanted to tell you all about our visit with Sally Ann. Yes, Sally Ann of Mack and Sally Ann! Oh, yeah, and Sally Ann's mommy came too! Well, someone had to drive! I don't think Sally Ann is old enough to get a driver's license.
Sally Ann and her mommy came to our house and gave us these really yummy dog cookies called Toggens! Oh my doG! They are soooooo yummy! They also brought each of us a toy and believe it or not, they have not yet been destroyed! We can't show you pictures of the toys, because, well...because Mom can't find any of them right now. Oh, they're still here, but they are probably under a bed or behind chairs or something. Anyway, they also brought our dad some really cool peppermint foot soak and our mom got a really cool Airedale pillow! Boy, that Sally Ann sure knows how to shop! Thank you soooooo much for all our great presents!
We sure wish they could have stayed longer, but our dad started having some problems so they had to leave. We wanted to go outside and play with Sally Ann in the back yard, but it was soooo cold, that day, and our wimpy mom didn't want to go out. Also, our mom was worried that we might think Sally Ann was some kind of prey. Well, we WERE bred to chase small furry critters! Patches and Penny were very nice to Sally Ann, but I, being the Alpha around here, kind of worried the peeps so Sally Ann stayed safely in her mommy's lap. I told them that I would be nice to her, but Mom wasn't so sure she could trust me! We sure hope they come back again someday when it's warmer!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy (and Penny and Patches too)

A little bit of nothin'!

Hi everydoggie! It's me, Patches AGAIN! I guess I get to post the most because I have a lot to say. My mom and dad just wish I wouldn't say it in the middle of the night! Lately, I have been barking at Dad sometimes around 2 a.m. and again at 3 a.m. Mom has a baby moniter near Dad's bed, so my barking wakes her up too. She is NOT amused! They have been making us do our last O.S. (OutSide) as late as possible, but that still doesn't stop me from barking loooooong before my peeps want to wake up! I TOLD them that I could just do my potties on the floor, but they said NO to that too! Sheesh!
We forgot to show you the yummy stuffs that Poppy got for her 9th barkday, way back in October. Wasn't it nice of them to put an Airedale on the box of Variety Snaps? I guess that means they are just for US! Heeheehehe! I found this picture in the file and remembered that we forgot about it. The feltie in the middle, is NOT one of Poppy's presents! It's an upside down Aire-head in her own bed that went to live with a nice lady in Maryland! Thanks for shopping on Ebay, nice lady in Maryland! She also bought 2 Airedales pulling a sleigh full of presents!

We have some awards to show you from Mack and Sally Ann, Maggie & Mitch and the Rocky Creek Scotties and Java, but my personal secretary doesn't have time to copy and paste them right now. I could do it myself if I just had some THUMBS!
We sure are going to miss being in the DWB Christmas card exchange this year! Our mom is running like a mad woman from the time she gets up until she goes to bed so she just doesn't have time this year. Boo on you, mad woman!
Well, that's all for now, folks! See you next time!
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Poppy & Penny too)

Happy Thanksgiving, everydoggie!

Hello, everydoggie! It's me, Patches! We are having a pretty interesting week here, at Airedale Heaven! Some of it has been really sad...like when we found out that one of our first pals went to the Rainbow Bridge. Rest in peace, Miss Snickers, and say Hi to all our buddies who arrived there before you. We know we'll see you again one day! Run free and painless and don't worry about Butchy and your family...all of us DWBers will take care of them for you!
Yesterday, we had a visit from our step sister, Debi and her boyfriend, Terry! We were soooo excited that we just about wiggled our fuzzbutts off! Our pawrents hadn't seen Debi since before the 3 of us came to live here. That was a looooooong time ago. We were all very happy to see them! Even our dad, who doesn't say much, was really glad they came! WE were especially glad they came bacause they gave us treats and petted us non-stop. Even Penny licked Terry's hand! Whoa.....that NEVER happens! She never gets that close to anyone she doesn't know! So, they must be really special peeps!

They brought Mom and Dad this beautimous autumn bouquet of flowers. They are even prettier in real life! It has lots of tiny orange roses in it, and it made us think of Asta! We know she's on her way to Nowf Carolina, but maybe she'll see it when she gets back.

Poppy is really excited about Thanksgiving coming up on Thursday 'cause she just found out that we're having turkey! We looooooove turkey! Our turkey day dinner will be scaled back a lot, this year, but that's okay. We are still going to enjoy spending the day with our pawrents and eating yummy foods!
We interrupt this bloggy to ask all of you to cross your paws, say your prayers or whatever you do for Claudette Hudson, Rocky's mom. She got some disturbing news from the doctor this week and we are sooooo hoping everything turns out okay for her!
Happy Thanksgiving to everydoggie, kittie, hammie, hooman and bear who celebrate it!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy, Penny & Patches

The Aire Care Fair was a success!

Hi, everydoggie, kittie, hamsterrier, bear and hooman! It's me, Patches. On Sunday, Mom and I went to the Aire Care Fair! The picture above is the tables where peoples could bid on Aire stuffs to benefit the Airedale Rescue Group. My mom donated 4 needle felted sculptures. Three of them were Airedales and one was a black Schnauzer on wheels. All 4 sold! Woohoo! Hollie and Janie are getting their very own Airedale wheelie!
Here's Janie! She looked soooooo pretty in her beautimous pink bow! We also got to meet her mama and Grandmama too! How cool is that?

Here's me and Sally Ann the Welsh Terrier! Isn't she just too cute? Sadly, she had to leave her big brother, Mack, at home, but we were soooooo glad to meet her and her mommy!

The Aire-kid in the back is Asta and we think it's Janie again in the foreground. There were so many Airedales there that we had a hard time keeping up with all the doggies' names.

See the blur on the left side of this picture? That's Sally Ann outrunning all the Airedales and other doggies! She's like a speeding bullett!
There were lots and lots of Airedales and we saw Dennis the Vizla, Chef the Boxer, Mango the relentlessly huge, Dexter the Labradude, a beautiful Weimeraner, a standard black Schnauzer and lots of other non-Aire-kids! Okay, so Dennis, Chef, Mango and Dexter weren't really there, but we saw doggies that looked just like them! The "Mango" doggie was just a puppy and no where near as large as the "relentlessly huge", but he will be a big boy when he grows up.
We all had a really great time running like mad fools in the off-leash area and some of us were busy playing bitey face with doggies we had never met before. The weather was pawfect, but it got a little warm in the afternoon! That was okay, we had lots of water buckets.
It was a really great day and we made loads of money for the Airedale Rescue Group!...which was the point of the whole thing in the first place! I was soooooo excited to get to meet two more of my doggie buddies from Dogs with Blogs! That meant there were 5 DWBers there! Jagger and Ezzy Rider, Janie, Sally Ann and of course, ME!
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Poppy and Penny too) (Poppy & Penny had fun with the DAD sitter while Mom and I were gone)

Just a short post!

Hi everybuddy! It's me, Patches! I don't have a whole lot of time, but I just wanted to post SOMETHING so everydoggie knows that we're still here! I'm getting all psyched up for the Aire Care Fair on Sunday. Mom was going to give me a b-a-t-h today, but since it's raining like crazy (thank you, Ida), I have to wait until tomorrow. Every time Mom gives one of us a bath, she says that the next time, she's going to PAY someone else to do it. We'll see how that turns out for her!
This is our mom's Christmas cactus. Yep, it's blooming in November AGAIN! Every year, Mom puts it outside in the spring and brings it in in the fall. It was actually starting to form buds when Mom brought it in and then it kind of 'sploded into blossoms almost as soon as it came inside.
Well, I gotta go, but wanted to let everyone know that all 3 of us doggies are doing fine!
PUPDATE by Patches (Wed. Nov. 11): I'm all clean! I had my dreaded b-a-t-h this morning! At 7 :15, Mom started chasing me to get me into the tub. Twenty minutes later, she finally caught me! See...being aerodynamic really pays off! For a WHILE! I'm all clean now and smell really good. Mom, however is not smelling so good and she got really wet! Heeheehee!

We are still around!

Hi, everydoggie, everykitty, bear, hammie and hooman! It's me, Patches. Yes, I know...this picture was taken before I was shorn like a sheepie.

I just wanted to let everyone know that we are still around. For those of you who have asked...our dad is not doing well at all. We are trying our best to stay out of our mom's way, but sometimes it isn't easy. On hospice days, we have to stay behind the gate either in the living room or the kitchen depending on who is coming and when! We aren't too happy about that, but mom and dad say they have a hard time talking to the peoples with us putting our noses all over them and barking our disapproval of intruders coming into our home.

Our dad gets a little weaker every couple of days and now, he's in a wheelchair. You should see our mom try to push him across the carpet! It's a hoot! She's always running over our stuffies with that stoopid wheelchair thingy. On top of all the stuff our mom has to do now, she broke her foot. Yep, that's right! Broken foot! She dropped a brand new oxygen canister on it and it even flattened her toe ring! Now, she's wearing an "aire-cast". No, it doesn't have anything to do with Airedales...we just made Mom put the "e" in Aire because that is the way air SHOULD be spelled. Mom makes a really funny noise when she walks around in the cast and Dad says there's no way she could sneak up on anyone. Fortunately, it's our mom's LEFT foot that is broken, so she can still drive. You outta see her try to get out of the Aire-mobile with that ginormous foot! If she ever forgets to put the seat back before she gets out, we may have to go and pick her up off the concrete!

While Mom is waiting on the different hospice peoples to come, she is cutting out Airedales, bones and fire hydrants that will decorate the tables at the Aire-Care-Fair on November 15. We have a dog sitter coming that day. Oh, wait! Mom says it's a DAD sitter...not DOG sitter! Oh, well, I bet we are going to have fun with her anyway. They says she LOVES doggies!

We haven't had much time to read your bloggies lately, but sometimes when Mom gets a few minutes, she reads one or two to us. We really need to know what is going on with all our pals, but I guess we understand. We hope nodoggie forgets us!

Aire-hugs,
Poppy, Penny & Patches

I'm a nekkid pup!

Hello to all our furry and not so furry friends! It's me, Patches! Before I show you my new Aire-cut, I wanted to show you the Black Bottom pies that our mom made for our dad's birthday. It took her a little over 3 hours to make 2 pies. She says that now she knows why she hasn't made any in about 25 years! When she was making the pies, she had the rum bottle out and we were watching her to make sure she didn't sample any of it. She didn't. YET! Our dad's birthday is Sunday, October 18, but she made the pies early because she won't have time the rest of the week. She tried to keep it a secret from him, but he found the bag of Ginger snaps that became the crust. It's also hard to keep that kind of secret since Dad spends all his time in the kitchen and that's where the pie making had to happen!
Now that you've seen the pies that we aren't allow to have, this is the new ME! Yep, I've been shorn like a sheepie. My hairs were so long and curly that Mom and Aunt Wendy shaved me. Before they did my Aire-cut, my mom held me and Aunt Wendy cut my toenails. First, Mom put a muzzle on me because they wanted to keep all their fingers. Then I went into my best drama queen act! We were in the basement and our dad could hear me all the way upstairs. He thought they were absolutely KILLING me! Well, they weren't, but I sure made it sound like they were. Mom started to get worried that the neighbors might call the ASPCA! It sounded like I was being tortured! Oh yeah, and remember that wonderful place where we went to get our toenails cut for just $5 per dog? Well, it turns out that all they cut were the TIPS! Our mom was NOT amused! At that rate, we would need toenail trims about once a WEEK!

Look how skinny I am! Okay, maybe I'm not REALLY skinny! Mom says I kind of look like a Kirby vacuum cleaner with toothpicks for leggies. I've actually lost a couple of pounds, but it's hard to tell.

Poppy is trying to get me to play bitey face, but it's hard to concentrate with those two pies on the counter right above us. Right after Mom took this picture, I showed Poppy how aerodynamic I am, now, by chasing her all over the house!

I bet you thought my 'splodin' froggie was gone. Nope! Mom let's me keep him 'cause he's my favorite stuffie. I'm concentrating really hard on growing some furs so I will be beautiful when we go to the Aire Care Fair in November. We are going to have soooooo much fun! We are hoping to get to meet Janie and Hollie and Mack and Sally Ann and their peeps. Our mom is donating some Airedale felties and they are going to have a silent auction for them. There will be lots of cool doggies things that peoples can buy or bid on. We don't know all the details yet, but we do know that ALL the money goes to the Airedale Rescue Group. We sure hope they get lots of moneys for ARG! That's where Janie and I both came from!
Poppy had a really great 9th barkday (again)! We have some pictures, but they will have to wait till another post. Aunt Wendy brought Poppy some really yummy cookies and she had to share!
Well, everydoggie, we're off to bark at the hospice person that is coming to our house any minute now!
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Poppy & Penny too)

Friday is going to be my 9th barkday!

Hi everydoggie, kittie, hammie, bear and hooman! It's me, Poppy! I just realized that this Friday will be my birthday. My 9th barkday! I think we may have celebrated my 9th barkday LAST year because my aire-headed mom thought I was one year older than I really am. She was so confused that she finally got my AKC papers out to look. I was born on 10-10-2000. That makes me NINE, Mom...NOT 10! I know she's got a lot on her mind, but c'mon. She says it's kind of like getting a whole year for FREE. Whatever THAT means!
Blondie (I mean Patches) is getting an Aire-cut, this week if Aunt Wendy is well enough to help our mom. Patches looks a little scruffy in the photo above, but that's nothing compared to how she looks NOW! If not for her coloring, you might think she's an Old English Sheepdog. We can't even see her eyes unless Mom pulls the hair back from her face.
Mom bought my barkday presents this morning, but she says I can't have them until Friday. What a buzz-kill! I had my snooter in the bag she brought home, but she snatched it away from me! On top of THAT, she told me that I have to share! Well, I guess I shouldn't complain too much...Penny and Patches have to share their barkday presents with ME! So, we actually get 3 barkdays a year!
Our dad will have a birthday in a couple of weeks too! Since he doesn't really need "stuff", our mom is going to make him a black bottom pie. It has crushed ginger snaps for the crust and then a layer of really dark chocolate pudding. On top of that, goes a combination of custard and meringue mixed with some rum. Our mom actually went to the liquor store the other day! She hadn't been in one in about 12 years or so. She said she felt kind of funny telling the guy that she needed 4 tablespoons of rum. She was hoping to get a couple of those tiny bottles like they serve on airplanes, but of course, the only thing they DIDN'T have in those tiny bottles was RUM! She ended up getting a little more than she needs so we are going to keep our eyes on her when she makes that pie! We don't want her getting tipsy! We sure hope she remembers how to make the pie...she hasn't made one in about 25 years!
Well, every buddy, we are off to bark at the painters that are going to fix our ceiling where we had the leak during those awful rain storms! They say they aren't afraid of dogs, but we'll SEE about that! They might change their minds when they hear the noise that the 3 of us can make!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy (and Penny & Patches too)

Two of us are beautiful and one not so much!

Hi, every buddy! It's me, Poppy! Yesterday, our mom and Aunt Wendy groomed me and Penny. By the time they got done with us, they didn't have enough energy left to groom the wild child, aka Patches! However, Aunt Wendy gave all three of us baths! Last time, our mom and Aunt Wendy both gave all 3 of us baths at the same time and poor Aunt Wendy had to drive home with a wet tushie. This time, Mom stayed in the house and handed towels out the door to Aunt Wendy. And this time, we got our baths one at a time instead of all 3 together.
Even though Patches didn't get an Aire-cut, she was really sleepy from getting her bath. We all took many naps for the rest of the day and evening. Don't tell her, but Patches will be getting her Aire-cut next week.
Thank you soooooo much, Aunt Wendy! Mom couldn't have done it without YOU! Now, we have to get our toe nails cut again. Once Patches gets her Aire-cut, we will ALL be beautiful! Heeheehee! Patches is still a fuzzbutt (and fuzz face, and fuzz leggies and fuzz tail!) She looks ginormous compared to Penny and me! Sorry we don't have any new pictures of Penny, but she is still camera shy. I guess she's never going to get over that!
We are having another rainy day, today, after 3 days of dry weather. It rained for almost two weeks straight! I'm sure you all have seen the mess that a lot of people in Georgia are dealing with. Well, we consider ourselves lucky. We didn't have any flooding in our house except for a leak in our roof that sort of rained into our little bathroom. We had a new roof put on just over a year ago and they must not have put enough gunk around the flashing by one of the vents. The REALLY heavy rains came last Sunday night and on Monday morning, our mom called the roof peoples. On Monday evening, a crew came out and fixed the problem. It will probably be sometime next week when the painter comes to repaint the ceiling. Mom says it was a pain in the "you know what", but it was NOTHING compared to what a lot of peoples have had to deal with.
Well, every buddy, that's about it for today. We're going back outside, now, to see how much red Georgia clay we can track into the house.
Aire-hugs,
Poppy, Penny & Patches

We're just tired!

Hi every buddy! It's me, Patches! We just wanted to catch you up on what's been going on around here. My hot spot is all but gone. Poppy had a couple of days where she wouldn't put all her weight on her back left leggie, but it seems okay now. I think she was just trying to get attention. Oh, yeah, and Penny is...well she's just Penny. She is a little ticked off though because Mom keeps putting the bark collar on her. Ever since our dad was signed up for hospice care, there have been loads of peoples coming in and out of our house and it makes us bark a lot.

A couple of the peoples that will come on a regular basis are afraid of doggies. Can you imagine? So, when those peoples are coming, Mom puts us in the living room and shuts the gate so we can't get to the peoples in the kitchen. Boo! We just want to be petted! One day, Mom turned us loose and we were very good girls, but the person we saw kept wiping his hands and arms with a napkin every time we touched him. Of course, we thought that was funny, so we touched him even MORE! Heeheehee! He's obviously not a "dog person"!
When the peoples come, Poppy and I will, eventually, stop barking, but not Penny! Nooooo! She keeps it up so the peoples can't hear each other. We're pretty sure she will get the collar on again this morning because a nurse is coming at 7 a.m. to steal some of Dad's bloods.
We aren't really sure about what's going on around here, but we do know that Mom feels like she's aged about 20 years in the last week and a half. Maybe it has something to do with us not wanting to go outside. It has been raining almost constantly since Monday and Mom has to practically SHOVE us down the steps to do our "good girl stuffs"! Poppy is the worst! Just when Mom thinks she's going down the steps, she makes a left turn past the grill and darts back into the house. She's a tricky one, but not as tricky as Mom and Dad! Now, our mom takes the "dog stick" with her when she wants us to go out. No, she's never used it on us, but we know that the threat is there!
We just want to let everyone know that we are reading your bloggies when we have a chance, but we don't usually have time to comment.
Thank you, soooooo much to all of you who have left messages and wished us well. It means a WHOLE LOT to all of us. We'll update our bloggy and visit you when we can!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy, Penny & Patches

A message from our mom.

Hi everybody! I'm hijacking the girls' bloggy today to let you all know why we haven't been around as much as usual. We have mentioned, before, that the girls' dad is not well, but the time has come to tell you all what is really going on. He is entering the final stages of emphysema and is requiring more and more care.
This afternoon, we are going to be meeting with hospice. For now, he will be receiving palliative care until he gets worse. For those of you who may not know what palliative care is: it is doing whatever is necessary to make the patient comfortable without trying to cure a disease. It's very similar to hospice care, but the visits aren't quite as frequent.

I don't want to sound like I'm whining, but this has been very hard for both of us. I just wanted to let you all know why we aren't reading or commenting on your blogs as much as usual.

We will not be going to Grace's birthday party at UGA on the 20th because I don't want to leave my husband alone for that long. We hope everyone and everydog who goes has a really good time. Maybe we can go next year.
The dogs don't understand what's going on around here and I wish I didn't either. Penny is afraid to step on the oxygen tubes that are running all over the house and Poppy is constantly getting tangled in them. Patches is the only one who seems to ignore them. By the way, her hot spot is getting better, but it isn't totally gone yet.
Well, the girls and I will try to read your blogs when we can, but in the mean time, just know that we haven't fallen off the face of the earth.
Aire-hugs to all of you!
Lana (mom to the 3 P's)

Awards, Patches' bare butt and Grace's birthday pawty

Hello everydoggie, everykitty, hammie, bear and hooman! It's me, Patches! My mom is making me wear this silly collar because I have a hot spot from hell! It's on my left hip or as mom says, the top of my butt!

I am definitely an unhappy camper. For about an hour after I got the collar on, I refused to lay down. Finally, I decided it wasn't so bad...except for the fact that I can't bite my hot spot any more! Mom is spraying stuffs on me every few hours and now that I have to leave it alone, maybe it will actually start healing! It isn't actually MY collar. It's my dad's from when he had surgery on his upper spine about 8 years ago. This is one of those rare times when Mom is glad Dad keeps EVERYTHING!

THIS is why I have to wear the collar. It started to heal, but I started biting it again so I will be wearing the collar for the foreseeable future. Mom says I need to heal up fast so I can get an Aire-cut before we go to Grace's birthday pawty on the campus of the University of Georgia...at least I THINK it's on the campus. It's on Sept. 20th this year. Grace was an Airedale that has gone to the Rainbow Bridge, but every year, they still have a birthday pawty for her and I think it benefits Airedale Rescue. At some time in the past year, Grace's dad went to meet her at the bridge so I'm sure they are playing together again. I can't wait to go to the pawty! Last year, there were about 300 doggies and 400 hoomans. Woohoo! Maybe we can beat that THIS year! Aunt Wendy is going with us and taking one of her Aire-kids and some other peoples and doggies will be there from the Airedale Rescue Group.

A few days ago, we got this really cool award from Nelly and Finni, two of our Aire-buddies. Thank you soooooo much!

We also got this really sweet award from our new friends Mack and Sally Ann. They live in Georgia just like we do! We hope to meet them in dogson someday, since they don't live a really long ways away from us...maybe around 30 miles.
Remember the emergency project our mom was working on? (If you don't know about it, scroll down to our last post). Well, it's ALL done now! She says it's a good thing she doesn't drink because she would probably have gotten drunk when she finished! Instead of having a drink, she had a Dove ice cream bar to celebrate. No, she didn't give us any. It was dark chocolate with vanilla ice cream. We tried to get her to eat the chocolate and save the ice cream for us, but NO. She ate every last drop and even licked the chocolate off the stick. What a meany!
Well, everybuddy, I'm off to my 423,297,539th trip outside for the day. Since we have had rain for about the last 5 days, our red clay is really squishy and it feels soooooo good under our feets! We get it all soaked up into our large furry feets and bring as much of it as possible into the house! Of course, Mom is not amused because the steps, deck and kitchen floor are ALL Georgia Clay Red! Heeheehee!

Patches (and Poppy & Penny too!)

Why we've been MIA...

Hi everybuddy! It's me, Poppy! I thought I'd get a jump start on Halloween with my scary eyes!
Patches keeps getting in trouble for interrupting our mom while she's working on an emergency project. Yesterday, Patches grabbed one of Mom's felties and was running around the living room acting like she just won the lottery. Now, our mom knows better than to chase her when she has something that doesn't belong to her. Nope, that never works. The faster Mom chases her, the faster Patches munches on whatever she has! By the time she dropped the feltie, it had lots of extra Aire-hair and loads of doggie slobber on it. Mom cleaned it up and sent it to our feltie hospital. The mini Aire-head will be good as new soon.
In the mean time, I've been hanging out in the computer room a lot. I can lay on the aire-vent AND stay out of my mom's way! Last Thursday (one whole week ago today), the ice maker line on the back of our refrigerator sprung a leak and made an hooooooge mess. I guess the leak must have started a long time ago, but last Thursday was when our mom noticed that the wood floor was all humped up behind the 'fridge. Boy, the HBO words were flying THAT day! We might have even learned a few NEW ones!

Penny is making an escape from the kitchen because Mom put this oxygen bottle, box and tools over one of the wood squares that was loose. It has been loose for a long time, but Mom decided to fix it while she had out all the wood glue and stuffs. This spot is very close to our dog feeding room so it is covered up because Mom doesn't want any toenail prints in the grout. Now, would WE do that? You betcha!

This is where our refrigerator usually sits. The flood that came from the ice maker line, ruined an area about 48 inches wide by 36 inches deep. Our mom decided to replace most of that area with tile instead of putting the wood back. She said something like, "By God, this is NEVER going to happen again". Ok, those weren't her exact words, but since this is a family bloggy, we won't repeat the HBO words that she was saying. It is finally all done except where you see the grout lines between the wood. She had to replace all that wood and the grout isn't dry yet so it isn't the right color. Once it is dry, Mom has to trim it to match the rest of the floor. I'm pretty sure there will be more bad words flying!
Mom and Dad have both been in the basement for several hours each day. They were trying to find the right sizes of wood pieces to fit in where some were ruined. Not an easy thing to do since they can't just cut new ones. If they make new ones, they would have to buy 2 gallons of finish and they say that isn't going to happen. It's a 2 part epoxy and it takes a gallon of each part. They only need about a quart of finish and can't see paying a couple hundred dollars to fix such a small amount of wood. Anyway, after a whole week, the "project" is almost finished and soon, we will be getting back to Aire-cuts for all 3 of us.
So, there you have it! Now you know why we have been missing for so long!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy, Penny & Patches

We're still here!

Hi everybuddy! It's me, Patches! I just wanted to let everyone know that we are still around. Poppy was really sick, one night this week, and our mom was REALLY freaked out. She (Poppy...not Mom) kept acting like she was going to throw up, but she never did. She would NOT lie down! She just kept standing around with her head hung down. She looked sooooo pitiful! Finally, by the time we all went to bed, Poppy decided to lie down. By the next morning, she was fine so we don't know what the problem was, but we sure are glad it's gone!
She's fine now and back to playing our usual bitey face and bitey leggies!

Last week, our mom went to that new doggie place to see if she could get a job there. The owner took Mom on a tour of the place and gave her an application to fill out. There were about 20 doggies there when Mom went and not one bit of doggie smell. She said that if she hadn't seen the doggies, she would never have guessed there were any doggies there. The place was VERY clean and all the doggies were having a blast running around and getting in the doggie pools. As far as working there, Mom just isn't sure it will work for her. Right now, they only have two shifts...one starts at 6 a.m. and the other is from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Even though she gets up really early, she doesn't think she could get there by 6 a.m. You see, our dad is not well and he needs the most care in the early morning and the evening. Our mom is going to take her application back up there in case they ever decide to put on a mid-day shift. The owner says that is a possibility. In the mean time, we get to keep her at home with us!
Well, everydoggie, that's all for today!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy, Penny & Patches
