Patches has been here 4 weeks and Poppy's in trouble!

Hi everybody! It's me, Patches! I have been here at Airedale Heaven for four weeks now and boy, have I learned a lot! I guess the first thing I learned was that it's okay for me to go out in the backyard without a leash. Woohoo! Freedom! I have checked out every inch of the yard and I'm making it my mission to catch one of those evil squirrels or chipmunks. Poppy and Penny keep telling me that it can't be done, but they aren't as fast as I am.
One of the really big things I've learned is how to eat from a fork. Yes, us doggies have our own forks. It's something about Mom and Dad liking to keep their fingers. Anyhoo, when I first came here, they would give me a treat on a fork and I would try to swallow the fork. I have finally figured out that: A.) the fork is not eatable, and B.) each and every treat I get will not be the LAST! There's always more where that one came from. Maybe it's because I am starting to put on some more weight and I don't feel like I'm absolutely starving to death anymore. Believe me, we get LOTS of treats. Of course, mine are always twice the size of Penny and Poppy's. Somehow, I don't think that will go on forever!

I am also learning how to play with toys and the other doggies. I know you've heard about the fights we got into, last week. Well, this week has been much better. Mom and Dad are watching us just to make sure we don't start any trouble. Okay...so I don't start any trouble! I just want to be the first one out the door and the first one to greet Mom when she comes home from work. I know Poppy is the alpha, but I am just still learning how to play. I will get it right one of these days. When I first came here, I had no interest in toys, but now I LOVE the stuffies! Everyday, I make a pile of them in the middle of the big bed and Mom has to remove them before it's time to go to bed. Heeheehee!

This is Poppy's guilty face. She got in big trouble, today! Some of you may remember that she is a "shopper". She likes to take stuff that doesn't belong to her. Well, since she hasn't been feeling so great, lately, her "shopping" trips have pretty much stopped. That is...until today! Mom and Dad were in the kitchen and all of a sudden, Penny and I went running into the living room. Mom jumped up to make sure none of us was causing trouble and she caught Poppy sitting in the middle of the floor with the bag of pipe cleaners that our mom uses to make wire armatures for her felted critters. Poppy had chewed several pieces off the plastic wrapper and slobbered all over a bunch of the pipe cleaners. Mom couldn't even get mad because she was so glad Poppy is getting back to her old "self". I'm sure glad it wasn't Penny or me that did it!

I have discovered the toy pile in the corner of the living room! Yesterday, I played with the Wubba that Scruffy, Lacie and BabyStan sent to Captain High Pockets. I was SHOCKED when I heard it squeak! It was sooooo fun! Of course, that made Poppy and Penny want it, but I wouldn't let them have it! I hid it under one of the pillows on the big bed and Mom found it last night. Heeheehee! It was nice and slobbery too!

So...let's see...after 4 weeks, I guess I have learned enough to fit in pretty well with Poppy and Penny! I have to check out this "shopping" thing that Poppy does though...I think that might be fun! For some strange reason, Penny never does it! Mom says that Pockets, their very first Aire-girl, was the queen of shoppers! That gives me a goal to reach for...as soon as I learn how to "shop"! I'll start working on it!
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Poppy & Penny too)

Hi...Chief Apache here. Say, we know all about those dawg fights!!! Whew, we just came through one expensive one ourselves. Tara has a stress ulcer, I have scars (face and leg) and mommy keeps looking at both of us with the MEAN LOOKE that says I'm NOT HAPPY with either one of you!!! It had to do with the babies...well, and stuff. We have so mannnny dales that we play with each other on a rotation basis...I think that means we spin around and have new play pals all of the time. Glad you're feeling better...we are. Slurps to ya! Apache and her tribe

G'day Patches

It takes a while to settle into to a new place, and on top of that you had to learn how to live with Poppy and Penny too! You are doing great! Keep up the good work.

Cheers

Hi Patches
I reckon you've learned loads in 4 weeks. You must be very smart. Lucy's been living here for 3 years and she's learned NOTHING...except how to irritate me.

Hugs and tail wags

Patches - Sounds like you are getting the hang of things. Watch out about being led down the wrong path by your sisters. I'm not so sure learning to shop will make you more popular.

Hello Patches -- Nice to meet you and see how you're getting the lay of the land in your Airedale Heaven. Believe us, we understand that door thing!!! We also sometimes scrap over a new toy or over who gets to say hello first to another dog on one of our walkies. It's a terrier thing, right?

We're glad that Poppy is feeling better. We also know that "tooth-shaped" wound. Remember, JH had an unintended puncture that got infected after he and I (Jake) had a door encounter.

That Attitude Adjustment thing sounds very timely in case of a three-part quarrel. Mom points her finger at us and glares; but that doesn't always work.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by!!! Stay cool.

Wirey woofs,

Jake and Just Harry

Oh Patches...I think you have found the best home..isn't it sad that you didn't get to spend the earlier part of your life there as well? You learn new things everyday and will soon find out that life can be pretty good when you are in a loving home. Dewey usually visits around but I thought I would do the rounds today.

I am afriad of the eating utensils and the only time Dewey and Toby get to use them is when Mom and Dad allow them lick them after dinner. The noise they make really scares me for some reason but I love to lick the plates.

There are fights around here lately too...usually Toby is the one on top of it...I got bit by him yesterday and he got put in his crate so Dewey and I could play. Mom thinks when they both loose their BITS, things should get better. It doesn't happen all that often now but never is a better score in my book.

Hope your week is great...keep up the good work on gaining weight...you look paws-a-tively WONDERFUL dawling WONDERFUL....

Tom and I love shopping! Shoes are our favorite. But Tom will shop undies, socks, and shoes and just move them around so Mom can never find them! I love to find new things like Poppy and eat them! I'm very curious. I get in trouble too. Glad you're better Poppy!

That's great Patches. The best news is you playing with toys. EVERY dog should know the joy of playing with a stuffie and the even more fun part of giving it to Mom or Mom finding it sopping wet. I LVOE that part!!

Patches, I'm so happy for you. You seem to be doing very well in your new home, fitting right in and gaining weight, too. Watch those squirrels good. One day you may teach Poppy and Penny a thing or two about catching them. Give them a big kiss for accepting you into the family. That was very nice of them, you know.

Oh Patches! It is so nice to see that you are fitting into your new home and learning how to play with toys and Poppy and Penny. I've been in my new home for 2 months now and I am fitting in also. I am like Poppy who likes to steal things off cupboards and tables. I don't really understand what is wrong with that!

Hugs, Kodak

Hi Patches--You've been around just a little longer than my baby brudder who is still learning the ropes. Me and my sissy are nothing but good examples, though, we never get in trouble. Nope, never. Little angels are we.
