Patches' second great adventure.

Hi everydog, kitty, hammie and hooman! It's me, Patches! As some of you may know, we had a new roof put on our house. Well, on Wednesday, when the workers got here, Mom and Dad warned them to always make sure the gates to the backyard fence are closed. Well, it went very well for most of the day. After Mom came home from that place she calls "work", we ate our dinner and then made our usual after dinner trip outside. Just as Dad opened the back door for us to charge through, Mom saw, out the window, that one of the gates was open. She yelled at Dad, but it was too late! Poppy and Penny went to the right, but I went to the left and saw the open gate. I was OUT before anyone could catch me. I stopped to sniff the neighbor, across the street and then ran like a maniac through the subdivision. Mom was hot on my trail, but it was so hot outside, that she didn't make it very far. Dad was telling her that I would come back, but Mom was freaking out! She was yelling for Dad to get the car keys, but he didn't hear her. She had to go all the way to the back yard and into the house because the garage door was closed.
As she ran through the house to get the keys, the phone rang. For some strange reason, she grabbed it and it was a neighbor down the street. She asked Mom if one of her dogs was out and she told her that she had me. She knew who to call when she saw a loose Airedale! Mom and Dad finally jumped into the Aire-mobile and went to her house. She had me by the collar, but as Dad got out to get me, I slipped out of the collar and took off again. She didn't realize that you have to grab the right part of a Martingale collar for it to tighten up. I headed back toward my house with about 5 or 6 people yelling at me. As Mom and Dad pulled up in front of our house, I was standing in front of my own gate, but Mom had closed it on her way out so Poppy and Penny didn't decide to join me on my adventure. When Dad started coming toward me, I ran to the other neighbor's house, but I finally turned around and went back to the gate. This time, Dad got it open and I ran in! I was home safe, but Mom was still freaking out! I don't know what her big problem was...I just wanted to sniff out all my new neighbors! The roofers felt really bad about leaving the gate open, but that didn't help anything! After my second great adventure, Mom and Dad walked all the way through the house to check both gates before opening the door again!

Poppy is feeling slightly better, today, but I think she's still going to go to the v-e-t tomorrow. She didn't eat her breakfast or dinner, yesterday and didn't want breakfast this morning. She IS up walking around more and she's wagging her tail this morning.

A few days ago, Poppy came into the house with blood all over the side of her face and Mom freaked out! She does that a lot where one of us doggies are concerned. She cleaned the blood off Poppy's face and couldn't figure out how it happened. She saw two little punctures and thought "snake bite". She kept going back to look at it again and decided that it wasn't a snake bite, but maybe Poppy scraped her face on the fence. We got the bleeding stopped and Mom "doctored" her and decided to watch her very closely. The area never swelled up and Poppy was fine for about 2 days before she started feeling puney. Of course, all this happened in the evening after the vet's office was closed. Now, Mom is thinking maybe she should have taken her to the emergency vet and paid through the nose.
The roof is finally all done so hopefully, I won't be escaping anymore and if Poppy was upset about all the pounding, she should should settle down now. The only one who hasn't freaked Mom out this week, is Penny. She barked a lot when the roofers were here, but she hasn't escaped and she isn't sick or anything. It's a good thing ONE of us is normal!
See you all next time!
Aire-hugs,
Patches (and Poppy & Penny too!)

Patches,

Try not to do anything to freak your mom out today. She had a very rough day yesterday. It's very scary for mom's when they think their puppies' are sick or in danger. It's weird about Poppy's "bite" mark. Ziggy has two holes on his side that my mom has been doctoring for a couple of days. She had to shave off his fur so now he has a bald patch! Hahaha, maybe I'll call him Patch! Have a peaceful, quiet day in your dawg house!

Mom is so paranoid about me making a jail break that she checks the gates constantly. The only times I have escaped is when Master is in charge and he or one of his buddies leave something open (bad master).

I hope Poppy didn't get bit by something bad.

We had the same escape happen only it was the tree guys and NINE of us hit the streets. My mom freaks out, too, and it was hot but she never gave up even though we ran into the woods and we beagles never listen. She found everyone just before a bad storm hit. Hope Poppy will be okay. The vet will know what to do.

Oh my...hmmm alot of escapes this week. For some reason, (after Mumsie forgot to put my electric collar on...) I decided to leave our yard. Mumsie came out and found me in the street visitin' with a hooman pup in a stroller and her mom. She didn't even have time to panic. Good thing I didn't decide to tour the neighborhood!!!! Mumsie woulda had a heartie attack like ur mom did....

Hope Poppy's feelin' better...did she go to the vetties???

We're sendin' her some healin' zen and some for ur mom to stop her heart from racin'...

Nothing scares the Mom like a little slipping of the fence. We're glad Patches is OK!

Oh my what an adventure for sure. You need to be careful out there, some people are not as kind as your mum and daddy are. I am worried about Poppy now, I sure hope she gets to feeling better.

Oh My Dawg! What a day! I bet you had fun but your Mom and Dad certainly did not. I bet they thought you would just keep running and running. I bet they'll check that gate from now on.

G'day Patches,

One thing I learned very quickly is if I want to get my Bi-Peds moving faster than normal, I just have to head on to the street. I mean, it's not our fault in some human leaves the gate open is it? That's just an open invitation for adventure!

I hope your mum has recovered, and I hope Poppy gets better soon.

Cheers Charlie

We are still sending good vibes for poppy. As for that adventure, it could only have been better if it included a stop at the pizza place!! ;)

I love doing that too!

Except with us, it's the garage door. Occasionally dad will forget to close it. And we know instinctively when it's open & make a B-line for it.!!!

I sure do hope pretty Poppy will start eating and feeling better soon.
Let us know how she is doing.
Cool, bloggy, btw!

Crikey we know what it's like when a dale goes on an adventure. It happens here too often for the pinkies liking. Darn gates being left open is a problem here too.
We are glad Patches is ok.
We have our paws crossed for Poppy too. Good luck with the vet visit Poppy.

Hugs and tail wags

OH MY Airedawg!!! Patches you weally scared your mom and dad. I have escaped a few times too. I think moms freak out a little more than dads. I am convinced they sit around thinking up all these "worries" of what could happen on one of our great adventures. I on the other hand bet you had a pawsome time!!!!
Sweet Poppy. We are sending great big Airevibes and love your way. This too freaks a mom out. To the mommy of the P's house.....we hope you get a good nights sleep soon!
snuggles and love,

Please, please, please Patches, stay in your yard. Your people will be nervous wrecks if they think that you want to escape all the time. I know running really fast feels good but you need to do it in the dog park instead of the street. Stay safe and I hope Poppy is feeling better soon.

Niamh

Great blog. Great pictures. Sorry to hear about the bite thing. Our Airedale (10 months old) has yet to be ill - but she's made me ill a few times.

Look forward to your updates.

Oh no, Poppy! I almost went to the Emergency Place of Tile and Steel yesterday too! I really hope you get better. Doctors are no fun. And make sure you feast soon. My mom gave me some sugar water to keep fluids in me and get some glucose into my body. I could only take a few sips at a time but it made me feel better.

Hope you're well soon!

PAtches, I've learned that if you stay in your yard and not make you Mom freak out, you get extra treats. Lots and lots of extra treats.
I hope Poppy feels better soon. When one of us gets sick or hurt, Mom freaks out, too. I think it's in their job description to over-eact to blood or weird things that have to do with our health.

Patches!

It sounds like you live in a zoo! A very busy zoo at that! You be careful my friend! Running away into the unknown can be very scary for us four legged humans! There are other cars out there that aren't Aire-mobiles...and I think they must get points for hitting us!

My human chased the neighbors dog down the other day when it was 108 outside...she was not pleased...and the neighbors were ungrateful, so I peed on their fence and barked at their dog! Heheeh!

Hope you are all having a good week thus far! I hope Poppy is feeling better soon. I know that ever since it's gotten hot out, I don't eat nearly as much as I use to!

Slurp!
